The Rangers as a team sure take a lot of third call strikes.

I would like to see Dane Acker
I would imagine it will either be White or a 4-inning outing from Urena. That would pretty much be a bullpen game the day before Double Header.

I would love to see Acker, but I doubt they would bring him up 2 levels. I doubt they would want to make a 40-man move as well.

I just think White would get torched. I know he has pitched better in his last 2 games but I think he needs more work. Now that I said that he will start and throw 4 shutout innings.

Do you realize in this 3 game series we gave up a total of 2 runs? That is amazing. But we still went 2-1 which is amazing in itself.

You very well may be right. I just don't see them having much choice.

I wonder if they will be tempted to activate Scherzer for Tuesday and forego any more rehab starts.

Owen white at Round Rock is 0-2, with a 5.70 era. He has pitched 23 innings and given up 15 earned runs. Batters are hitting.302 against him. Looks like he shouldn’t even be in AAA.

From Evan Grant:

Easiest to overlook: When you get four consecutive starts in which you don’t allow more than one run, it’s easy to focus on the starters, but wait until you get a load of the bullpen. This homestand was truly when the pecking order in the bullpen emerged with the leverage trio being Josh Sborz, David Robertson and Kirby Yates. On the homestand, they combined for 9.1 innings, allowed one unearned run, walked two and struck out 14.

Behind them is a trio of Cole Winn, Jacob Latz and José Leclerc. Call them the mid-leverage dudes. They are going to pitch when the Rangers are behind by a run or tied or when Bruce Bochy needs to give a member of the veteran duo of Yates and Robertson a breather. On the homestand, the mid-leverage guys pitched 11.1 scoreless innings, allowed three hits, walked one and struck out 12. That’s 20.2 innings without an earned run from the heart of the bullpen.

And on Thursday, Bochy was able to give Yates an extra day of rest. He’ll be plenty fresh going into Kansas City. The bullpen is in fine working order. This is how winning streaks are built.
