Kiffin was Mike Garrett's hire and even at that he was the 3rd choice. I think that he mainly got the job because of his ability to recruit (top 5 classes every year except this most recent and even this one was top 5 in "stars per recruit") and because he was an excellent OC and playcaller under Pete Carroll.

Kiffin is actually a very good coach. The problem is that he just wasn't ready for a job with USC's stature, especially given the sanctions. It may also be that he just isn't head coaching material. Not everyone is. Some guys are career assistants. Nothing wrong with that because top notch assistants are very valuable to any program.

As you said, the fork has been stuck in him, time to move on. I don't see us getting Peterson. I know he's turned us down once and you guys twice. Heck, I think he's turned down every PAC school at least once.

Did you not watch the Notre Dame game last year? Everyone who saw how he handled when USC was on the goal line understands that he was never a good coach. No heart as well watch how Chip Kelly and Todd Graham coach with fire and intensity. Kiffen is one of those guys that couldn't perform a 2nd half comeback because he couldn't get his guys motivated to play.

Oregon has a clear path to the crystal ball this year. AND it will be the most historic National title of them all since it will be the FINAL BCS National title and the LAST crystal ball handed out. We got the trophy case to support it.

been reading since my post, no thank you posts yet. Lets not be selfish, PAC fans.

They wouldnt do that. But do you find it funny that Oregon has as many Crystal Footballs as USC since they hired Carrol???

I just realized that. After all those teams they have nothing to show for it. Since USC fans only gauge success on NATTYs. All that for nothing in their eyes.

I would be proud of the BCS bowl wins if I were SC. As I am for Oregon's BCS wins and conference titles.

But hey, when all that matters is NATTYs and your team hasnt won one since the 70s... Depressing indeed.

You mean a "flash in the pan" that will be put back in it's place in a couple of years when the true "Leader of the PAC" returns to prominence in a season or 2?

hardly look at the recent history and the record for USC and Oregon.

You're right, USC doesn't have any "Natty's". USC has 2 National Championships from the Pete Carroll era. Not sure what a "Natty" is. Is it some term from Queer Eye?

And "sniffing around" for 4 years doesn't get you an NC. You can "sniff around" a hot chick too. Doesn't mean you're getting a date.

As for being a joke in college football......that is something Duck fans have a looooong history of being known for.

You are making shit up....

Bullshit. You have ZERO Crystal footballs.

Since the BCS era, the Crystal Ball is all that matters and you have ZERO.

AP trophy is a consolation prize you got when the Press voted you the champ so they could change the BCS system. We all recognize LSU as the National Champ. Not SC.

The Trojans dont have a single one Crystal Football under Carrol. And that is a fact.

USC would start off laying an egg and not looking good, then by the end of the season they would smash there opponent in a rose bowl . Caroll just couldn't get those teams to play well at the beginning of the year. But many of Carolls teams at the end of the year would look unbeatable.

Are you freaking kidding me???? STILL?

Go back and re-read junior. I said he may not be head coach material. Doesn't mean he can't coach. You off your meds or just drank?

He wouldn't have risen through the coaching ranks under Pete Carroll if he couldn't coach.

Kiffin's problem isn't that he's not a good coach, it's that he's not a good leader. You can be a good assistant coach or coordinator and not be a good leader. However, you can't be a good head coach and not be a good leader.

Really not that difficult to grasp.

Are you guys serious when you say you don't follow college basketball? Just curious to as to why? You really think college football is that much better? Or do you just not like the sport of basketball?

really? there is a reason a scholarship always defers to football if they play multiple sports.

When faced with diversity they would lose to a 20+ point dog.

Texas beat em. What, they beat Iowa in the Orange was it? And they got a consolation prize AP trophy. The reason the AP voted for USC is too shake down the BCS. LSU earned the NATTY on the field.

SC never earned a National Title this entire century. They have ZERO Crystal Footballs in that case. Same amount as Oregon.

Yeah, I watched. Apparently you didn't. Barkley was out and Wittek was horrible. He didn't have a whole lot of choice but to try and pound the ball in with the run.

And if you can't get 2 yards running the ball with the game on the line, you don't deserve to win.

And again, not being a good leader, doesn't mean you aren't a good coach. It means you aren't a good head coach.

Kiffin is a fucking hack man. Cheating piece of shit hack. He doesnt belong anywhere near a football field.

Oregon killed his Dads CFB career and ASU killed Jrs career. And good riddance. THey dont belong anywhere near the PAC12.

Colt you idiot, had he still been on the team I am sure ther would be some structure to this to get him out and make him pay in another way. Routine for footballp layers who get in trouble they contact the university first, usually University takes over the situation and these kids get a break, happened before for Colt, but now he doesn't have Oregon to hold onto.

Clearly, you never saw USC play under Pete Carroll. After losing to Kansas St. in his 2nd season, USC didn't lose an OOC regular season game again. Other than Notre Dame, all OOC games were played in the first 2 or 3 games of the season.

And the vast majority of those games were against teams that could actually play. Not cupcakes.
