I think it also sometimes comes down to how much on the field gametime is he going to get. If he chooses the top team, does he get in over the current kid(s) or sit the bench like Seastrunk ended up doing before transferring out. On a lesser team, he might be their fulltime starter, make all the difference by helping them win more games, get more media attention, and have a higher upside.

Duck fans are a funny bunch. They think that just because a kid is "leaning" their way, they will get him because their shoes match their purse and they are "fashion forward".

During USC's run, we had top recruits de-commit and even transfer all of the time. Sometimes it's because they don't want to wait to play, sometimes they might think they will never play, sometimes they want to go someplace where they will be "the man" etc. Heck, USC had one kid choose tOSU over USC because he saw how much fun the practices were and felt that USC didn't take our football "seriously"!!

These are 17 and 18 year old kids. No one knows how they will respond to anything.

I responded to part of this in another way. USC UCLA and Stanford account for over 300 of the 460+ NC in the PAC. Chess is not a NCAA sport, but the titles in men's and women's swimming, diving, basketball, golf, baseball (may P12 teams have those) softball (U of A should be proud of that stat) etc. I never dissed your team, I work at your University, and have for 15 years. But one NC in BBall is not all you should be proud of, and, to focus on that, is, at best, myopic.

No one can deny that those schools have a tremendous amount of success and history. Im glad they are in the Pac as they contribute (in a big way) to our slogan of "The Conference of Champions" Like I said any trash talk I diss out is either in good fun or a drunken rage of anger.

What true fan concedes a loss before they take the field?

Besides, the one thing going for us, we have a pretty decent team this year. If we were to get 'er done, this year is as good as any if not better.

Heck it doesn't seem too long ago (2006) when we beat then No. 2 USC with a then 6-5, 4-4 team! I didn't think we 'would' win that game either but I'll tell ya, I enjoyed every second and never conceded that game either!

Oh look, now you gone and done it, you're making me bring up some bad memories for tf12!!

The only reason anyone hates on U of A is because we are the Oregon of Pac 12 basketball.

Now that I think of it.......it's netted you exactly one more NC that USC has in basketball!!

It's not always about national titles. Being a presence year in and year out on the national stage gains you some points. I would actually say UA basketball is more of a powerhouse than Oregon is in football. We are regarded as a top ten program of all time. Can't say the same about Oregon football
