I don't need to see that again lol. Kid snapped his leg just landing from a jump at another player about to shoot. Landed and his leg just shattered and folded mid leg. As I recall one of his teammates saw it and threw up right after he was so freaked out.

haha I had a bad leg injury playing basketball when I was on leave from the Army. I wanted to see if it was worse!!! but yeah, that was pretty gnarly.

Mine I actually didnt break anything, though I dont know how. I shredded everything from the knee to my toe. :P

I drank a lot of milk as a kid. Any normal man would have snapped like a twig!

Makes total sense as to why the level of play has dropped off, no depth...
With this whole schollies reductions do fans blame Carrol for this whole probation stuff or is it on Reggie?

Honestly, for most Trojans the blame is spread fairly evenly between the Bush family and the NCAA!! I don't know of any Trojans who blame Pete!!

The reason for this is simple!! The Bush family are the ones who took stuff that they knew they weren't supposed to. They get the blame for that. If they had simply waited one more season to "cash in" on Reggie's success, none of this happens.

The NCAA gets blamed because the "punishment did not fit the crime" it was about double what it should have been given what actually happened. They never proved that USC knew anything, but punished as if we did. Also, simple logic works against USC having knowledge or being complicit in any way since the Bush family was being paid to entice Reggie to leave early!! Makes no sense for USC to be part of a scheme that doesn't benefit the team in any way.

Not only do any Trojans that I know not blame Pete or even believe that he knew anything, we also appreciate that he testified to the NCAA on USC's behalf when he didn't have to and has always defended the program every single time he's had the opportunity!!

I think it goes without saying that USC is suffering under the sanctions and we have said so everywhere. There is no depth and it shows. I think you are just seeing the inevitable reactions blaming Kiffin when people see how bad the offense is.

Aren't they still getting the talent to handle the likes of Ga Tech and Washington St though?

Yes and no. First of all they played hawaii and WSU, not ga tech. Second when you are has encumbered by sanctions as they are you cannot afford to recruit any misses and cannot handle injuries as your depth is total garbage. Had they not lost scholarships over all this stuff they would have been deep enough to overcome all of their ills and would be winning because of it, no matter who is running that offense.

The sanctions left them with far less tools and their HC isn't very good at using the ones they do have.

I know. I was referring to Ga Tech from the bowl game. They weren't supposed to lose that one either.

What you do have has to be disciplined, motivated and put in positions to win. I'd bet Snyder could win with those guys.

I think he's just pretty much done fooling people.

Yeah, injuries haven't helped much either. I.E. the guy that started at running back the last 2 games is a converted linebacker and the guy backing him up is a true freshman!! Silas Redd is still recovering from off-season knee surgery!!

Re: USC, I think that some of this isn't so much on Kiffin as it is the schollie reductions. I remember posting when the sanctions first came out that if we were to continue to perform at a high level, we couldn't afford any "misses"!!

We have all seen highly ranked/recruited kids simply not pan out for various reasons. With the level of recruits that USC gets, we never had to worry too much about that because if a guy didn't pan out, there was always someone else to replace him.

With the reductions, that "someone else" isn't there!! I know that we've had 2 "this is the next Reggie Bush" guys who didn't pan out (one transferred to Florida and one was kicked off of the team), but it didn't matter because there were others to step in. That's the biggest thing that's missing, imo!!

Hard to watch the Trojans now. NCAA must be happy about it. If you knew what you know now you could have had a Texas street agent rent a house for Bush's family or had Bush sign autographs to finance his activities.

LOL at you thinking it's that easy!! This is the 4th year of sanctions and we haven't had a losing season yet. 'Bama, with lighter sanctions than what USC got, had at least 1 or 2 losing seasons and if memory serves, even lost to an FCS team during those years!!

The fact that we haven't had a losing season yet says that the players are at least competing and that there is some quality talent. There just isn't as much because we currently only have 67 scholarship players on the team.

I'm not trying to claim that Kiffin is the next Saban or even Pete Carroll. Kiffin had the 2nd best record over his first 2 seasons in USC history with no bowl games to play for. The biggest difference between those 2 teams and the last 2? Those first 2 teams had 85 scholarship players. This years team has 67!!

How do you think Nebraska would look if they had 18 fewer scholarship players than everyone on their schedule?

 Very true re: the street agents and autographs!! I find that the defense is a pleasure to watch, but watching the offense is frustrating (to put it mildly)!!

I'm normally not a vindictive guy, but I do have to admit to getting a certain amount of pleasure in seeing how the NCAA has "screwed the pooch" in every case they've handled since!! It's great seeing how badly they are perceived when considering how "high and mighty" they thought they were at the time!!

If what happened to USC followed by the way the NCAA has screwed up everything they've handled since then leads to major changes in how the NCAA does things. Or results in the BCS schools telling the NCAA to go pound sand and form their own governing body. Then what happened to my Trojans will be worth it!!

That is still impressive, and there not backing down on who they play...

What was the deal when Monte Kiffin left? Was it that he wanted back to the pros or was he having issues working with his son?
