Well, the Isles, Leafs, Lightning and even Canes/Wings all lost last night.

The Leafs are in a complete freefall. The toughest part of making the playoffs may be just passing the Islanders for good. We do still need more wins in the ROW category to take a tiebreaker.

Less than four minutes into the game and already they've started one of our power plays with a faceoff just outside our own blue line, then we somehow let Schenn get outnumbered 2-1 on the boards while with the man advantage.

Unreal. Obviously one of these is a ref mistake and the other a "Wtf" moment by our players. I'm sorry, but this shit just drives me insane.

We need a power play goal here if we want any chance of getting two points. This is getting ridiculous.

Seriously, why can't Steve Mason play the way he has as of late for the vast majority of the season or in the playoffs? He would be one of the top 3 or 4 goalies in the league easily if that were the case.

Mase has to stop that Orlov shot. He plays an incredible game for close to 43 minutes, then gives one up long range from a defenseman with nobody even near him right after we had taken the lead. I'm sorry, but Holtby doesn't give that one up. Not a chance in hell. No other top ten goalies let that go in either.

Now we probably lose this late in regulation or in a shootout.

Our only hope is to finally score on a power play or get a break in OT.

I don't like the penalty call in OT. I didn't see it, but in this rough of a game, you can't call borderline stuff, especially when it results in a 4 on 3. Easy two points for them.

So I was noticing in the game last night and games I've seen before, But don't most of Wilson's big hits come when the other player is already engaged? I saw that quite a bit and thought he gets away with that a lot.

No doubt, Jake got hit high and hard with nothing. It was a sneaky elbow or forearm and nothing was done. Perhaps it was a mistake, but either way it's a penalty.

Regardless, I don't think anything should be called in OT of a rivalry game of this magnitude unless it is egregious. I still haven't seen the penalty MDZ committed, so I doubt it was anything significant. We probably had at least a decent chance in the shootout as we are 6-4 this season with Voracek and Weal having scored in the last game.

At the end of the day though, getting even just a point in DC is a serious accomplishment. They are 27-5-1 at home. Most teams never get to OT.

We pull to within three points of the Islanders for the last playoff spot and we still have one home game remaining against them. This is going to be difficult, but we do have five games left against NJ/Carolina and they are two of the coldest teams right now, having lost a combined ten straight.

Agreed they are definitely not out of it and playing better hockey. The PP needs to pick it up.

That penalty in OT I'm not sure about it either seems weak especially compared to the one missed on Jake. You call an iffy one in OT and miss a blatant head shot earlier???

I hate to say it, but our power play wasn't playing well enough to cash in anyway unless we had a 4 on 3 or 5 on 3.

And yes, Mase played very well, but that's a very weak goal to give up there to Orlov right after we had grabbed the lead. He can't give that up. Unacceptable.

Islanders trailing the Flames 1-5 in the third period. Our next opponent Buffalo however is leading Pitt 3-0. Everything going our way here though, we just need to keep playing well and get two points on Tuesday night. There should be no underestimating the Sabres. They are playing well and still technically in this race themselves.

The Sabres fooled around and lost that game 3-4...Lol Either way, we have to come to play Tuesday night and get the two points. I have guys like Eichel, O'Reilly and Kane on my fantasy teams. They are lighting it up as of late. Eichel has a 10 game point streak. These three guys alone had a combined 28 shots tonight. Unreal...Lol
