This is our break. The Leafs shut the Wings out 1-0 in Detroit. Now we can be just one point behind with two games in hand if we beat them in regulation tomorrow night.

What an absolutely enormous game and opportunity this is for us right now. Go out and win one and it puts a serious dent in their playoff hopes and really solidifies our position.

No excuses at all here. Time to take it to them. All hands on deck baby.
The Rags lose to Detroit and Pitt at home this weekend after beating everyone they saw for 2 weeks. I cant have any more hate for one team in any sport than I do the Rags.

Tuesday better be nothing short of a war. A shame we have to play the Blackhawks sandwiched in between two of the biggest games we have played in quite awhile.

I really haven't been consumed by excitement for the Flyers this much since April 2012. Going to be a fun, stressful final stretch
Lets win the first one and go from there. Come on boys keep moving your feet and stay hot.

If we win our 2 games in hand we are only 5 points behind the Rags with 13 to play.

Fuck the Rangers. They are going to screw around and end up being a wild card (after it looked like they had 2nd locked up) if they don't regroup here very soon. They have the dreaded California road trip (3 games in 4 nights) coming up, then they return home for Florida and Boston. A very difficult stretch and they are 2-3-1 to start this month.

Then, Tampa, NYI and Detroit to close out the season.

So, we've held our last four opponents to an average of 21.25 shots and given up just 1 power play goal on only 8 attempts. In contrast, we've scored 4 power play goals on 17 attempts and averaged 31 shots per game.

We're locking things down defensively, getting timely saves, showing a lot of discipline and yet drawing a lot of penalties ourselves, then cashing in on them.

The lines should remain unchanged at least for the next two games. Jake is back on the ice but says he is not game ready. The Rangers are really looking shaky, as are the Islanders. The Pens are starting to look formidable without Malkin. (why do they always seem better when either Malkin or Crosby is hurt)

I bet Voracek returns against the Pens on Saturday. The Islanders and Rangers both will be tested here in the next week big time. I also think the Pens are in trouble long term. They've only played one game since Malkin left and the game winner was a fluke, lucky bounce off both skates of Marc Staal via a desperate fling from behind the net that somehow beat Lundqvist five hole.

I didn't even mention Detroit. They are looking extremely vulnerable too without Kronwall, who has led them in ice time this season. I watched a lot of their last game against the Leafs. Toronto spanked them. Time to pounce tomorrow night.

Well, the Islanders are in trouble against the Panthers. Getting handled 2-0 through two periods. It's worth noting that they lost Halak, their starting goalie, for six weeks. Greiss has better stats, but he's never had this kind of workload on him, so they may be in trouble here also.

All in all, these teams around us are struggling, a lot of them due to serious injuries to key players.

Holy shit. I just jinxed the Panthers. They had dominated the game through 40 minutes, then suddenly they give up 3 goals in 5 minutes and trail 2-3.

Very impressive considering the amount of back to back games that were in there ,and also coming up with the Wings and Hawks

To me, deciding games in the Nhl via shootout is like Mlb suddenly adopting a home run derby to decide games that are tied after the 9th inning...Lol I mean, how fucking silly would that be?

And to answer the question, I think Mason is is worse than our shooters. Giroux can definitely score and anyone who has been hot that night has a fair chance too.

I know it's a small sample size, but if Neuvy stops shots 13% more often in shootouts than Mase, he should start all of our shootouts. It would theoretically pick us up a couple extra points throughout the season.

This is like asking what's worse: getting kicked or punched in the nuts! We should pull the goalie to create a 4-3 with a minute left in OT just to avoid a shoot out.

Seriously. I've stated this before too. The odds of scoring while 4 on 3 with the goalie pulled are probably close to or better than the 27.6% rate of winning we've done in the shootout over the last 6 seasons, especially with players like G, Ghost and Jake on the ice.

It sure as hell would be more exciting than the shootout, that's for certain.
