It looked like Gudas was 6 and Schenn 7 but Hakstol changed his mind. Thought Gudas had too much rust and difficulty on the outlet pass. I actually think Schenn is decent on the PK.

one, three, and four, are definite improvements. two we'll have to see. let's get this ride rolling!

Will be interesting to say the least a good mix of youth in there hopefully some have grown up and produce this year!

I'm definitely worried about a potential lack of offensive production beyond the first line and the first power play unit. I don't think we can expect to make the playoffs with Giroux and Voracek carrying us all season long. This means guys like Couturier, Schenn, Read, Umberger and Laughton need to chip in a fair amount of goals for us to be truly successful.

Schenn is better than Gudas as a whole and should play over him.

If the Laughton line can do a good job in the shut down role they'll be fine. Umberger never seemed right hopefully he's healthy and bounces back.

Anaheim vs Chicago WCF
Washington vs Tampa Bay ECF
Chicago over Tampa Bay in the SCF

I know it is easy to pick the same SCF and 3/4 of the same conference final form the previous season, but I really can't see anyone else beating Tampa or Chicago in each conference.

Solid game last night on the road against a very good team. I know its only one game but some observations:
Laughton is fast
1st line needs to shoot more and stop looking for the perfect pass
Umberger looks like a new player
Coots needs to move his feet
Schenn bros very impressive
Medvedev is solid
Mase is a stud
4th line looked good
Love the pace of our team causing a lot of turnovers by cutting time and space

I think Washington will finally get to the Finals for the East. The West I'm taking Anaheim.

Good effort against a good team. Tampa Bay had the most goals per game average last year and for the most part, the team played sound. Mase bailed them out a few times but almost every goalie has to make as many big saves every night. I thought the 3rd lien played really well.

Agreed all around. They could have easily won and having the third line play that well is a win in itself.

Got rid of SO and still get burned for two penalty shots...
