Two blowout losses to our biggest rival up north? Yeah, he's most certainly trending towards John Cooper territory. He has a chance to change the narrative next season in the big house, but if we get blown out again, it's a wrap. I dont need to see 12 games worth of action to know.
Curious if it's a blowout when the game is close midway into the 4th what would we call it when the game is over by halftime? Like his first game vs. UM that was a win (or Urban's losses to middling Purdue/Iowa)?

He won me over. He won alot of big games. those iowa and purdue losses should not have happened. and that blank loss to clem.

Overall, I think urban underperformed though. with the talent, teams, recruiting classes, and opportunities he had, he should have had more than 1 NC. Same with Tressel. In his 10 years, he should have had more than 1 with the talent and teams he had.
Yes.....as mentioned my comments were not meant to rip Urban as he is one of the best CFB coaches I've seen. An elite recruiter, as well, which matters a lot.

This is interesting. Day's 1-2 vs. UofM. Cooper started out 0-5-1. Not exactly the same.

But I see what you're saying. I said the other day if Ohio State can't take care of business next season time to replace Day because I don't wanna another Cooper-like run in Columbus.

I disagree with you saying Day's following in the footsteps of Cooper with undefeated/great regular seasons though.

Day's been in Columbus now for five seasons. He's 45-5. Cooper went 41-16 his first five years. With the exception of '20 (virus season) Day's won double digits game every season. Cooper didn't win double digits games in a season until year five.
And if UM does not beg out in 2020 I doubt anyone thinks he wouldn't be 2-2 vs. UM.

Day started with a fuller cupboard though. I'm not putting him on Cooper level at this point but he's gotta do better in big games.
Curious what you think is a "big game"? UM and the CFP games for sure. In those games he is 2-4 (3-4 if UM does not beg out in 2020). Not great, sure, but the coaches he lost to have been HCs a long time and among the best (maybe the best when it comes to Saban).

I've heard some say Oregon so they could help make their point (not saying you are among them) and that's fine. But if one includes Oregon (wh was top 10 at time but finished with 4 losses), they must also include wins against ND, MSU, Wisky, Utah and even NW in the BIG championship game IMO.

Also agree the Harbaugh quote (and you) not wrong about what he started with but he has remained an elite recruiter AND has been able to bring in elite of the elite QBs which I'm not so sure Urban ever did (though he wanted a different style QB)....guess that is something else Day did as he completely changed the offense.

It's not an overreaction at all. Ohio State has been run all over the last two games. And the offense only scored 50 total points.

** = Doesn't matter if JH's been a HC longer. Bad losses are bad losses.

You mentioned recruiting. Don't know where the kids were ranked nationally but two of them flipped from Columbus to ann arbor after the game.
Not sure who flipped from OSU to UM after game but saw a recent article with quotes from a number of kids at the game who are still firm on OSU.

I'd also say a game that is one score halfway into the 4th not on same level as one that's over by halftime (but, sure, any loss is a bad loss for OSU).

Thanks for posting that, nice article.

I must have misheard something last weekend. Thought I heard two recruits flipped.

What do you think about the CFP expanding to 12 teams in '24?

Possible 2 flipped and were either not at the game or not among those the reporter spoke to I guess.

while for the longest time I thought 8 teamer was perfect I love the 12 teamer.......cannot wait to see an SEC team come to Columbus in December.

Rather 8 than 12 but 12 much better than 4

Even though for longest time I wanted 8 I'd have even been OK if they kept it at 4 (though prefer 8 or 12). Just wanted more uniformity with scheduling.

Hey. What is the penalty for a team for playing a known felon? Asking for a friend.

I know, it's not like he sold a $50 gold charm........... :rolleyes2::mad2: the ultimate worst thing you could do.

Felon would require a conviction. Like Pacman being a felon as an example.

I don't know why you guys would want to fire Day if he goes loses next year to Michigan unless you are sure someone like Fickell is available. Or even a coach the level of Dabo.
