i think that will be impossible until the next off-season
Possible someone could use Calhoun or Culberson in a trade. Like I said, getting crowded and is really a nice problem to have.

Semien isn't going to be moved and Garcia not likely either.
and that's the conundrum

Calhoun is not doing himself any good as being trade material and Culberson & even Miller are not someone that any team would look at at the trade deadline unless the Rangers DFA'ed them

I said possible but you're right, not likely.

i think we'll have to be disappointed in the playing time these guys are going to see (Smith, Huff, Hernandez, Duran, etc) because of the way the team is loaded. things will have to change during the off-season

Who has shown you the most tonight, at least compared to what you expected from them?
Or else bat has good pop extreme leg kick. Not too impressed with JP Martinez despite triple as compared to other CFs in system. Nice as a LHB but not too much hand eye contact. Foscue is a competitor but totally out of sync. You can tell by the sound of the bat who has a shot at MLB

Terrible 3B coaching. Should have sent twice and sent a weak fly home to walk off. Out by a mile mmm. Wish I had seen Harris and Leiter but alas the futures game

Nothing to see in Rider pen. Good experience
Who else ?

we need to fire Woody and bring a manager who understands that when we bring up a prospect to the team that someone needs to be immediately benched and that prospect needs to play every day. Woody should have benched either Lowe or Heim and put them at the end of the bench
I think Woody is playing for a contract with no thought of 2023. Did he not stare the rebuild is done? Hate to think this but it might be best for us to lose so:
1 We move guys
2 Woody is relieved of his services
3 Young guys needing a look see and or experience get to get it

Well i think Duran > Huff, personally.
I think we are going to have to rate our prospects and unfortunately not wll
Will get their shot immediately at the MLB level

Like the Dodgers approach they just have to blow it out at the AAA level to get moved up. But yeah once moved up they need to play regularly, be given some patience and eventually produce

They need to template the way Leody was handled and do that for other players. They have not done it for Huff and really not Smith. But they might be doing it for Duran

The impatience and lack of common sense is astounding sometimes.

Small sample size and 11 hits in 31 AB's in 2020 inflates those #'s. Will we ever see what he has after 300 AB's in an ML season vs ML caliber pitching. He also had 11 k's vs 2 walks that season. 7 walks vs 38 career k's.

My point with him not being ready is, if they won't find a spot to play him in most games then he's not ready to be up. No player is ready to come up and sit and get limited AB's spread over a couple weeks time. Vets like Calhoun can't even succeed when AB's are limited, how's this kid gonna be ready for that. Realize you aren't a playoff team and sit the guys that aren't the future and play him and take the lumps and see if he cuts down on the strikeouts or let him get his work in at RR.

This team has already made some big mistakes in carrying out thie rebuild.

Signing two SS was a huge mistake. One would have been great if it had been the right one. Semien should have never been signed. SS was a position of strength within our organization and we overspent on a position of strength, giving us less money to spend elsewhere at some point.

We had a chance to enhance our rebuild with a trade of Kyle Gibson and failed miserably with that trade.

We had no business signing Calhoun.

Woody is the wrong manager to give time to rookies while benching veterans.

After drafting Leiter last year we got one player in the next three rounds that had any business being drafted within those three rounds, and even he was drafted a round early.

We have brought up Huff to be a backup catcher. He would have more value in a trade, but would have the best value being used correctly here.

It will not end there. They are probably about to make a trade or two that benefits us more in the short term, 2 or 3 years, than long term. Who knows what the draft will bring as far as reaches and miscalculations are concerned. In five years we will most likely be able to look around at the prospects we traded and compare them to those that we kept and see we made big mistakes.

I think we are headed to three or four 90 win seasons in the next five or six years, and maybe one or two playoff series wins, but not a sniff of the World Series.

or just send everyone packing that the fans dont want to see and call up everyone we want to see and play them every day. Regardless if they are ready or it has a negative impact on their development

That is the rub. They refuse to do that. When they signed both SS a few months ago they decided the rebuild was over for the most part.

Even 300 AB may not tell the story. Taveras had that many before this season and look what he is doing now.

Had they realized they had no pitching depth and that guys are still not ready to make the next step and there was no reinforcements on the way from the minor leagues pitching-wise because they cant develop players, they would have had the first clue.......MAYBE

True but 300 is a start vs 113 spread over 3 years, in which one year was in a league that wouldn't actually classify as MLB..... IMO.

I am beginning to think the best rebuilds occur without having any decent veterans on the team. Just play a bunch of young guys so the manager doesn't feel the need to play politics with the lineup. Others will call that tanking, but so be it.

Three hundred while playing on a regular basis would be much better than what is happening. 1000 AB while not playing regular wouldn't tell us anything though.

I am surprised at how well he is pitching this year. I figured based on his age and how long he has been pitching including many post-seasons he would decline.

He will be another great 1 year sign by the Dodgers next year
