And so kicks off the official 3 day minicamp. Per Bears Wire, here are the main storylines:

For me, the retooled OL ranks as the most important point of interest. Our offense will only go as far as how the line performs. We now have a future franchise QB at the helm. Nothing will help him develop as an elite performer more than a solid, dependable OL.
Well, that and the QB situation, ala Fields. But yea, I think the O line protection and run blocking is also key.

Apparently we brought in Brandon Marshall (the LB) for a workout the other day. He's been retired for the past two seasons, but isn't THAT old and was once a stud in Denver. I doubt we would get what he used to be. Probably not even that close. Perhaps could fill a role of some kind for us, though.

As if waiving Kyle Fuller didn't scream "we totally f*cked up our cap situation" enough...

The Fields issue will sort itself out, regardless of which week it is he starts. But aside from this, there is no greater importance to the current and future success of the Bears than how our OL performs. Not just run blocking but protecting our QB as well. OL is probably the least sexy unit in just about all of team sports, not just football. But it's vital to the success of any organization. I've always felt the Bears brass, and this goes back beyond Pace, but historically I've felt they've rarely given the requisite priority the OL deserves.

Just wanted to check in and say that I'm tickled how everything went from extreme pessimism to overt positivity in Chicago Bears fan land because of the Justin Fields pick. It's nice to be excited and not despondent right now. One month to preseason. :)

Gotta admit. I'm pretty excited too about Fields. This may be the year I finally visit Chicago and see a game live.

My optimism for the bears went from 0-100 on draft night. Not only did they draft what could be a stud QB, they got two tackles I think can be great too. I think Borom could be great for us at LT. Jenkins is could be a special Olinemen.

Pretty much every article regarding ARob all say the same thing in that there is little chance of signing him to a long term contract. Technically, the Bears of course can apply the tag next season as well, but these same reports indicate this will not be the case. In short, the man bolts after this season.

Now interestingly enough, Tampa Bay is also not expected to reach a long term contract with its own tagged wideout, Chris Godin, who is two and a half years younger than ARob, and that he too will walk next year. Can't suggest anything beyond mere speculation on my part that Pace may be holding out the ARob money for the younger Godwin. In other words, not sayin, just sayin......

I mean it's insane how night and day it has been Trubisky vs. Fields....So much so that honestly if Fields busts I'm going to go into a deep fan depression. :O

We Bear diehards could easily be accused at the present of suffering from a bad case of Fields overhype. But no f'n way will Fields turn out to be another Trubisky. Not a chance. Zero. Zilch. Zippo. Nada. None.

Still pissed off about Fuller.

On paper we should be better this year if not for that dumbassery.

Agreed. This D would be so much better if we still had Fuller. And he didn't sign for that much more in Denver. This is just a Pace screwup leaving behind a gaping hole at CB.

Anthony Miller traded to Houston. Only surprise is it took this long. Trying to figure out what we got for him…if anything consequential.

Gonna guess conditional 5th round pick.

Think I read we had to swap late round picks with the Texans... basically, we paid the Texans to take miller.

Bears probably moved a 6th or 7th round swap with Houston. I guess the belief is Houston will continue to stink it up. While the Bears remain a playoff team?

So much for the, “All time leading Bears’ WR” prediction…

Bears have also signed TE Jesse James.

Maybe a sign that they really do want to commit to running the ball a little more consistently as James is a good blocker.
