"It’s somewhat surprising that Gatto, who hasn’t pitched above Double-A ball to this point, received a big league deal. The 25-year-old spent a large portion of 2018 in Double-A and all of 2019 there with the Angels organization. He combined for a 5.36 ERA with 7.3 K/9 against 4.4 BB/9 in 131 innings during those two seasons."

I don't imagine anything changes as long as JD is in charge.Bet there will be a lot of mixed feelings on this board
Surely would hope for some change or it is a wasted move. You know it is good when people can collaborate on most things and come to agreements. But yes don’t think JD or Preller were willing to share control. Maybe a hefty raise for Preller was a big factorI don't imagine anything changes as long as JD is in charge.
JD had a hard time working with Chuck Greenberg and Nolan Ryan. This should work out some better because JD is over Chris Young unlike with Nolan and Chuck.
I do wonder why we couldn't have done this before we lost some organizational talent, like Preller, over the last few years. Maybe because those guys would have wanted the final say in building the team.
He will probably phase completely out at about the same age as John Hart did. I think he will be the main guy in charge for quite some time, unless these owners sell the team.Well JD and Nolan surely differed on players acquisitions. They were not always on the same page.
I would think JD wanted something to happen and liked Young. He is probably ready to phase out of the grind
