I will hold off on the accolades and criticisms until after I see how it affects the team. This team has changed so many things the past several years, but there isn't evidence of those changes pointing to any championship possibilities.

Like I told Evan, the common denominators are ownership and JD. None of the changes thus far has moved the needle much on expectations. Ownership and JD may have to go before expectations can go up.

Did not predict success but this was my take on the press conference. JD admitted they would collaborate but also think CY will be more aggressive with translating analytics from FO to field. Owners said they took no money of it if the business but conversely did not throw own money as NYM owner seems to be doing

No, I understood you weren't predicting anything.

If the dust settles someday and the new ownership decides to keep Young and he does well, then this will be a great move. Until the ownership and JD get out of the way, I am not sure it can work out.

I don't think analytics needs to be improved nearly as much as drafting, developing, and the budget.

His interview made me think leadership and the translation from it from FO all the way down the line needs to improve.. a hungry winning mentality. JD looks much less enthusiastic and tired. The energy in the room came from CJ. He feels like he is back in the hunt.

JD and Odor both have something in common. Both will continue being a negative impact as long as they are in this organization.

It is every kid's dream-- be the GM of your hometown baseball team.

All I remember about him is that he was a pitcher for the Rangers and suffered a catatonic episode
He was one of the five we got for Burroughs I believe. Him, Henderson, one of the May brothers, Devine and the 5th one escapes me. I think it was another pitcher, but not sure.

The fifth player we received was a pitcher named Carl Morton, but he never pitched for us. I guess he should have been forgettable.

A swingman on a loaded 2016 Florida pitching staff that included five future first-rounders, Dunning was on the White Sox short list of options to take with the 26th overall selection that June. They went with Zack Burdi instead and saw Dunning sign with the Nationals for $2 million at No. 29, yet landed him six months later along with Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez in the Adam Eaton trade. He missed the final two months of the 2018 season with a strained elbow and then lost all of 2019 following Tommy John surgery in March, but he returned this summer and was one of Chicago's most effective starters.
Scouts debate which of Dunning's pitches is the best because he has three that play as plus offerings at times. His fastball parks in the low 90s and reaches 96 mph, playing well above its velocity because he creates heavy sink and commands it well to both sides of the plate. His curveball has surpassed his slider as his best breaking option since he switched organizations, though he used his slider more in his first taste of the big leagues, and both stand out more for their break while featuring enough power.

Dunning's changeup gives him a potential fourth solid pitch, though it's not as consistently effective as the rest of his repertoire. He had the highest floor among the system's mound prospects before his elbow blew out, and he has regained his feel for pitching and ability to throw strikes with all of his offerings. He fit right in as a dependable middle-of-the-rotation option and should be able to handle that role for years to come.

Dunning was the White Sox #5 prospect and #98 on the MLB top 100.

This looks like a good deal. Dunning is ready to be in our 2021 rotation.

There is also a player to be named later.
