Regardless of our deficiencies, bet we pick up RHB who can play some 1B and somehow grab a 3B. How we get a 3B will be tricky. Bet Angels have an extra 3 B.

1B is easier ... maybe Cron or Mancini

I like the idea of Mancini as he could transition to OF/DH1B rotation once Choo is gone and shouldn't require a ton in trade

Cron is a hard pass, defense is atrocious and doesn't walk, and his offense isn't that great, if Guzman figured it out just a little then i can see him being better than Cron this year

They don't have a 3B theirs were atrocious last year and they already released Cozart

His arm had a clean break, no surgery needed so if it healed normally and those kinds of fractures usually do, his arm will be as good as new, just a year older.

I think the concern lies in his already declining velocity and poor numbers before his broken arm

From Scott Lucas today:

Two months ago, I contemplated the quartet of Allard, Burke, Palumbo and Hearn (assuming he's healthy) fighting over two spots in the 2020 rotation. Now, they're fighting over locker assignments in Nashville. Unless someone gets hurt. Someone will get hurt. One or more of these prospects should still play a significant role for the 2020 club. One or more may spend 2020 in a different organization.

More moves are forthcoming. That's obvious, but in particular, the Rangers will have to jettison some pitchers:
40 total spots
- 25 (!) pitchers (24 plus Joely Rodriguez when his signing becomes official)
- 3 position players expected to contribute minimally at most in 2020 (Taveras, Apostel, Tejeda)
= 12 spots remaining for starting position players, their backups and injury/quality reserves

That doesn't compute. Stay tuned.
Joely is official. I am glad that those guys will get to do more work at the minor league level. I believe that is best for now.

Blake Swihart intrigues me
I remember him with the Red Sox. I will also be interested to see if Flynn and Dillard would be decent out of the pen. As most BP guys they are a little up and down.

Mancini would be awesome. He only made half a mill (wish I could say that) and this is his 1st year for salary arbitration. But he is not a FA until 2023. I would be willing for us to look into trading for him.

Plus he's a righty, you could platoon him with all of our lefty COF/DH/1B options

Cron absolutely murders left handed pitching so he'd be an ideal platoon partner if they dont want to give up on Guzman completely. His OPS vs LHP was over 1000 last year. OPS vs RHP .685.

Don't really have the flexibility to carry 2 1B only guys with drastic splits
