I have thought about him if the deal was right but he would need to learn to play 1b. Don't think he has played it in the MLB level. But he was a 3b early on and most of the time they are able to transition to that position.Could Castellanos be a stopgap at 1B this year and then transition to a OF/DH rotation, a la Choo?
Looks like he never played ther in the minors either. Like you said, he should be able to learn it though.I have thought about him if the deal was right but he would need to learn to play 1b. So what next?
3B
CF
C
Unless they decide on someone else and according to multiple mlb beat reporters they are looking at options both FA and by tradeCF is Santana

True, and sooner rather than later. MadBum probably won't finish next season on their team.Arizona is gonna regret that contract.

Not argue any of your points but on the mlb network some of analysts on there spoke of CF as the team's #2 need behind 3B. They spoke of Santana as a fill in in CF on a limited basis and more of the utility player at multiple positions.3B and CF would have to be via trade as the FA options are pretty bad, minus Donaldson
But i feel that trading prospects for a CF would be a waste of resources at this point

They would be wrong in my opinion, CF CAN be filled internally, catcher and 3B cannot, if you believe Solak does not have the arm for 3B
Saw the Mets signed Porcello for 1 year at 10 mill. I think that is a really fair deal. We will see if last year was an outlier compared to his other seasons. He has pitched a lot of innings each year so while I hate that Kluber was injured I am hoping that the time off will rejuvenate his arm.
They may be looking for a bench player who can play CF, someone to backup Santana and fill in for him if he is needed somewhere else occasionally.Unless they decide on someone else and according to multiple mlb beat reporters they are looking at options both FA and by trade
Which is what I thought. So I hope the velocity he had lost to begin last season come back with the rest. We have the possibilities of a solid rotation. His arm had a clean break, no surgery needed so if it healed normally and those kinds of fractures usually do, his arm will be as good as new, just a year older.
I wonder if they sign Castellanos to play 1B and use Hindman to back him and the OF up.Regardless of our deficiencies, bet we pick up RHB who can play some 1B and somehow grab a 3B. How we get a 3B will be tricky. Bet Angels have an extra 3 B.
1B is easier ... maybe Cron or Mancini
