Ever get tired of being wrong?

And as you and I discussed a few days ago, and agreed upon, when you look at the cost-of-living in CA vs TX (136 vs 90), and TX's lack of state income tax compared to CA of about 12%, really the money was damn near a wash.

Plus, he's from the state. I honestly think it boiled down to which team did he think was most poised to win sooner than later.

But hey, no sense in rehashing a dead arguement at this point. He's there and we still need a 3rd baseman.

All I said was I found it hard to believe. I was also the 1st to post the trade and what we were sending to Cleveland. I still shocked tha ownership allowed it with their tight purse strings

So who is the better defender a guy who can barely play 1 position or one that can and has played 4 positions therefore being much more versatile and useful?

I want a guy that can play 1B AND HIT, positional versatility doesn't mean much to me when it comes to 1B

If you want a good defender then just leave Guzman there

I know for a fact that most people here couldn’t stand Delino. Clase looks like a ready made solid RH bullpen piece. The Indians will have him for pennies for 6 years.

relievers are pretty much the one thing we are good at developing. I don’t hate this deal tho because it presumably gives us a way to put Santana in the lineup everyday ( unless JD wants to start his pet prospect from the Mazara trade). We pretty much gave up depth to acquire what is hopefully a #2 pitcher for several years.

the starting rotation looks much better then last year at this point. Last year, we had losers like Shelby Miller and smyly pitching every 5th day. We still haven’t done anything to rectify the shitty ass lineup we have tho.

The ChiSox prospect was assigned to Frisco and isn't on the 40 man

They were willing to pay Rendon over 30 million per year for 6 years, I think they had some money to spend and can afford Kluber... but now we need a 3B

I think most of us would've been willing to pay 35 y/o Hamels 18 million, now we're paying 34 y/o Kluber 17.5 million, with an option to get out after 1 year or pay him the 18 million we would've given Hamels a year later

It looks like JD made a good trade......or, did the owners force him to do this. Hmmm, should I give JD or the owners credit here???

Don't waste your time trying to figure this stuff out. Not saying this was from you or whoever but there is a lot of posts where we act like we know exactly what is going on behind the scenes.

I like that we landed Klubber. What are you guys thoughts on the Rangers off season so far? What else would you like to see them do?

rendon was a huge miss. They need to bring in some bats who are better than the ones they have. We have too many guys who play “ hero ball”. Players who don’t work as a team and just swing for the fences every AB. Gallo is great at it. He draws walks and punishes pitchers, but the other players who have his approach all suck.

the pitching looks much better than last year, but I thought the bats were our biggest problem last year and they still are this year.

I'd definitely like to see a vet bat added still but I'm happy they have added some good pitching.

yeah I hear ya.

not to disparage Danny Santana. I’m very glad we got him and I’m a big fan, but he was probably our best and most consistent bat last year if you factor in Gallo’s injury.

santana was pretty much a waiver wire pick up. The so called big names on our team are crapping the bed at the plate with the exception of gallo.

don't agree with the "going about it all wrong" part. he is trying to make his team competitive by signing what are perceived, sometimes wrong sometimes right, as critically above average or better. sometimes you win sometimes you lose but you don't quit trying just because you got it wrong this time or the next. you just make better decisions.

The "going about it all wrong" part is about spending all this money on overpaid offense and having very little pitching to keep your opponent from scoring. You gotta keep teams off the board even if you have 200 million in payroll spent on offense

Looks like we got Corey Kluber. Could be a major coup or a major bust, depending on who we had to give up and how Kluber rebounds this year from injury.

I'm not sure how this could end up being a bust, just at the look of it. Delino while serviceable isn't anything special and Clase looked like people were starting to figure his stuff out. He will be a hell of a closer if someone will put him there, but he shouldn't ever face more than 3 batters. Kluber isn't expensive unless he becomes a bullpen only arm and I don't see that happening in the next 2 years.

Really thrilled with this move.

We need help at 1B, 3B, and catcher. Catcher is what worries me the most.
