Smyly could be a trade piece at the deadline, but odds are he won't be good enough to get anything for. He has only been able to start more than 25 games once in his career and when he did that his ERA was just under 5.00.

If he stays healthy he might give us about what Fister gave us last year when he was healthy. At one point I said I thought our pitching acquisitions this offseason would be a lot like last year's offseason acquisitions. We still have Minor so that takes care of that comp. Smyly is a good comp to Fister. Now it is probably time to find a Matt Moore type.

Bush, Gardenwine, and Herrera are the remaining 60-day DL guys I think.

Texas Rangers make lots of roster moves

Finally, the Rangers activated Matt Bush, Nick Gardewine and Ronald Herrera from the 60 day disabled list.


With these moves, the Rangers’ 40 man roster is now at 33.

May be hard to find a new manager. Why? Almost no SP. Now short a C and CF. Choo Calhoun and possibly Beltre at DH and /or blocking youngsters. Lack of offense.
