Says the guy whose football team couldn't even beat BYU or Ol' Moss er Miss this year. BTW we are in the middle of nowhere & our weather sucks as well but we've been ranked more weeks this year than Texas has.

Minnesota Elementary says hello, btw. After NU got embarrassed by one of the B1G's bottom dwellers on Saturday, it's clear that NU had no business in the top 25 at all.

Don't know if someone has already mentioned this but I think the strongest variable in the future will be how we watch sporting events.
15-years ago, the majority of sporting events were on broadcast TV, now most are on cable, how will we be watching in 5, 10 or 15 years? I personally believe the majority will be a la carte, some sort of pay-per-view or seasonal package deal, drastically changing the way contracts are made with conferences.

I won't even pay for the B1G Network. Definitely not shelling out for anything else. If it isn't on broadcast or ESPN, I pretty much don't watch it unless I get invited over to someone's house.

It's not part of your regular cable/satellite package? That would suck.

No need to post that, you Corn Holers should know who your daddy is by now. Getting raped and embarrassed by Minnesota Directional is the topic on hand right now. That's fucking embarrassing.

Forgot to mention. I don't pay for TV in general, so my views are a little skewed. :suds:

lol. How does that work out? I mean, can you follow news and such on your computer? How do you stay current with stuff?

Broadcast TV. Rabbit ears with an amp. I get CW, MY, ABC, NBC, CBS, ABC Storm Center, LWN, PBS 1, PBS 2, Create Network. My buddy lets me watch some of the ESPN 3 games using his Time Warner ID. Haven't done that yet this year. Think it would work for the BTN, also, but normally I get invited over to someone's house.

Well, I suppose with the state of Texas football these days, nobody would know about embarrassment on the football field more than a Texas fan. Thanks for the lesson.

You have contracts with the major networks and then you have the conference networks. Now the major networks pay out so much to the conference (which I believe for the Big 12 depending on who you believe here) is somewhere between 20-26 million. Most of the other major conferences are in that ballpark as well. But, for example, by the time Nebraska gets to full membership in the B1G, do you know what that network (the B1G network) payout will be per school? A cool 60 million per school per year. Now you tell me why anyone in the Big 12 would want to stay there when eveyone else is getting big money from the networks and big money from a conference network. Basically the B1G network is for 3rd tier rights for the whole conference in every sport. Revenue sharing even on that level. What a concept.

Never said it was untrue - I'm saying its a joke.

All the things you're happy about Nebraska getting - equal revenue sharing, a conference network.......NONE of that was anything Nebraska EVER voted for in the Big 12, not even once. And it was voted on at least 3 times that I'm aware of, probably more times than that.

It makes you, and NU, come off hypocritical. That's why I said we should just drop the thread.......it's pointless.

Can't drop the thread. Alfalfa is learning stuff.

Texasexes is trying to hijack it. This thread is about Texas and GT to B1G, but the Minnesota beating Nebraska is a different thread.

If Nebraska ran from Texas, then Texas ran from Rice, Rice beat Texas in 1994, when Texas announced Texas was dumping on SWC back in 1993. Which is more humiliating?

And if you'd paid attention about 30 posts of mine ago I owned up to this. So, I ain't being hypocritical one bit. Just stating facts that if you shared on more levels as a conference to and including a conference network, you'd be pulling in a helluva lot more money than you are now and more than compared to every other conference that has a conference network up and running or soon to be up and running. If you want to talk about hypocracy, the Big 12 wouldn't be revenue sharing equally if it weren't for Oklahoma and a couple of oother schools. Texas only agreed to it to still have themselves a home.

How so? Big Ten network paid out 7.6mm to the conference last yr, which was down from 8.1mm the yr prior. It was down, because Nebraska got a pay-out in yr 2. At some pt your pt will make sense, but over the last couple yrs it has not been the case. Big 12 network will not make as much as the Big 10 network. Keep in mind the Big 10 network has been around for 6 yrs and is paying less. Last yr Texas received 19.8 from the Big 12 and 11MM for LHN. 30.8mm > 25.7mm paid to Big 12. Texas is at a +5mm run rate currently, so it will take awhile for the economics to favor the Big 10

You have no place to go as every other major conference has rejected you.

False. The only reason NU is in the B1G is b/c Texas turned down the Big 10 when they came calling. Actually, the only reason NU is in the B1G is b/c Texas and ND turned them down. You boys are terrible thirds, the 3rd choice, the one choice the Big 10 had to settle for since their 1st two choices said no. Now, the Pac 10 turned down Texas mainly b/c of politics and the LHN. Other than that, there wasn't another major conference out there that came calling or that Texas contacted. Keep trying......
