30 year old players who have missed huge chunks in 2 out of the last 5 seasons quite frequently continue to get better and never tend to breakdown. Other than that, great signing.

The Celtics needed a quality big man and got 1. I like that he can stretch the floor offensively also. That allows the Celtics to have a great deal of versatility.

I would still like to see them package a couple players for an upgrade at 4. I like Horford at 4/5 and Amir Johnson off the bench. If they could get a Noel type player for a couple of their current assets, I think it would make sense.

Joke all you want about the Celtics, but this team is looking very good. I did not like Aing'e draft at all but the Celtics have arguably the second best team in the east and two upcoming draft picks likely to be in the top 3 again. They are in fantastic shape an are pretty close to being a legit contender.

I honestly think that would be a bad idea. Those picks are worth more than Cousins. If I am packaging two high picks like that, I want a proven winner in return. Cousins is far from that. I might consider moving 1 of those picks + a marginal asset or two for Cousins, not both.

Agree with you TLance. I am not giving up on getting Giles for a head case. The guy that Danny wants next is Butler. Celtics are being built to be the best defensive team.

I understand the desire to get Butler, he would be a good get. That said, they would probably have to give up too much to get him. Especially since the 1,2 and 3 positions were the strength of the team last year. I really like Bradley and Crowder.

Durant didn't even give Washington a meeting. You really think he's going to be in a Wizards uniform?
That ship has sailed. Horford wouldn't have even made a difference.

If it was just 1, then I would do that. 1 pick + one of the young guards Would be fair, not sure if the Bulls would do that. Would not trade both picks for Butler though. That is likely what the Bulls would seek.

When do NBA players actually sign these contracts? The Hawks front office deciding to pull a Clippers go all out with a max offer tomorrow would only make this offseason even more fun.

Better deal for Atlanta though with Howard coming cheaper and the better true Center.

I dont understand why Horford would take 26 million less and 1 less year to play for a team that will have to use him more and likely still be worst than the Hawks unless KD signs. Add in the cheaper taxes in GA and the Hawks having one of the best medical staffs and move is just odd. Horford has wanted ATL to get another big so he could move out to PF some and they had that for him in Horward. The Celtics will be sticking him right into the same situation he was in with the Hawks before.

Basically he's no closer to a title and getting paid less. I guess if his girl has family there with a baby on the way it's sort of going home but his agent cant be happy he left so much money on the table. Another day and the Hawks likely inch up closer to that max offer.

Very much a lateral move for Al...from what I've heard...from the outset, to stay Al wanted the 5th yr, and the Hawks did not...both seemed firmly in their positions...even after Howard was signed, Horford wanted 5, and the Hawks were set at 4.

IMO, Howard, Horford and Milsap was not a great combination as you still had one player playing out of position...good move for BOS, but I think ATL still has the edge.

Maybe I'm a little too in love with next year's class but I would be very tempted to hold on to a top 3. I guess we'll have to see how they do as freshman.

For all you Celtic haters...........

Prior to yesterday, Kevin Durant was in contact with Al Horford every day trying to get him to sign with OKC. Horford was worried that KD and Westbrook would leave him behind after next year. Durant met with Ainge and Tom Brady for 3 hours yesterday afternoon and is now seriously considering signing with Boston so he can play with Horford.

Just so you all know..........The Celtics have

3 First Round draft picks next spring (Nets, Grizzlies and Their own)
2 First Round draft picks in 2018 (Nets and their own)
2 First Round Draft picks in 2019

The Nets are trading as many players as teams will take to get draft picks so they'll suck for the next few years and Boston will be in the lottery. Eventually the C's lottery luck has to change.........2017 first pick to the Boston Celtics...........

Horford is a great add for Boston, if they can get Durant then we might have a new East favorite for next year.

Agree. I cringed at the Howard to Boston talks, but if it brought in KD I'd of been good with it, now if Horford can bring in KD all the better.

I forgot you even watch basketball hammer. If you did, you'd know Horford is a star player.

Giles and Jackson have a chance to be stars right away. I'd trade the pick, but it would have to be for Butler or Cousins.
