Field's spot was taken by Chi Chi, I think this open spot goes back to when we DFA'd Peguero as his spot was taken by Klein who was already on the 40 man and no corresponding move was made

They are probably trying to leave the spot open for Rua when the time comes

Only other 40 man spot was Fujikawa and he was replaced by Ohlendorf

Not to mention Kickham is still on the 40 man, so that could concievably be 2 spots opened up at some point

JTA ... agree with all except Kickham isn't on the 40man per the TEX MLB website.

05/09/15 Texas Rangers sent Mike Kickham outright to Round Rock Express.

He was outrighted to make a roster spot for Hamilton.

Richardson is on the 60day so doesn't count. Kickham is gone. There are only 38 on the 40man right now by my count.

40-Man Roster | texasrangers.com: Team

I was wrong in my post in the BOS thread. There is room the 40man for promotions ... Lucas (AAA) or Gallo (AA) or if Thomas Field clears waivers ... he could be moved back to the 40man and reactivated too.

I count the same now that Kickham disappeared, 38 spots on the 40 man, I have a feeling a couple of those are placeholders for guys slated to return relatively soon (Harrison & Rua come to mind)

I counted 39. 21 Pitchers, 4 catchers, 8 infielders, and 6 outfielders.

Kickham cleared waivers and was outrighted to Round Rock. He's not on the 40 man.

That'll work, Just never saw the move reported, but that's good to know we have 2 40 man spots available, I'd like to leave it that way if possible for a couple 60 day DL guys potentially coming back soon

You are right Benny. I now count 21 pitchers. I had 20 before for 38 on the 40man. There are 39 on the 40man.
They are tough to count with there being so many DL spots and some of them being 60 and some being 15 day.

There's going to be a lot of collateral damage when some of these pitchers start getting off the 60 day DL (Harrison, Holland, Perez, Tepesch) and no other moves are made

I think a trade or two of guys like Wandy and Gallardo will help out some unless we trade them for guys we have to put on the 40 man.

Perhaps, but those haven't happened yet, and at this point are just assumptions

And unless we go on a losing streak and mail in the season, the recent hot streak kind of prevents those type of trades from happening

It depends on how guys pitch until Perez, and Harrison and Holland are ready to come back. If the two I mentioned are the two best pitchers on the team then they likely stay, but I don't think that will be the case. There certainly isn't room for 8 starters. Had Perez and Harrison been healthy in the offseason then I don't think either Wandy or Gallardo are on the team now so I can see them being traded when those other guys are healthy again.

I can see Wandy but I think they have plans for Gallardo.

A lot of what ifs in that scenario, Harrison's back, Perez's elbow and Holland's shoulder, nothing is guaranteed in their returns this season, Perez might not give us much of anything this year, Holland I'm semi-confident in him returning, but we've heard this song and dance from Harrison before, I'm ok with DFAing a Freeman for him but not trading a Gallardo
