Gatorchip liked it to death. He hated the like button, so he liked posts enough until it was annoying to everyone else, too. Apparently, he isn't the push-over happy go lucky poster. He hasn't said this, I just assume, I knew that's what he was doing once I saw him like a few posts and some of mine. I was like, "what the F? No one likes my posts. Ohhh, I see."

Sooo, because someone was "Liking" posts they discontinued the "Like" option?? Uuh, okay then.

It was on virtually every thread. He had like 7000 the last time I saw his profile. If it wasn't annoying to see, it was at least more meaningless than it was by itself. They've kept the share button, but now it doesn't stand out as much and it's only on the top post of each page (I assume you share the whole thread whenever you share). Gatorchip's rationale was that it failed on ESPN so he didn't like the likes. http://www.sportshoopla.com/forums/...uggestions/89525-make-like-button-bigger.html

That's so stupid if that's the reason. Honestly I could care less but i find it hard to believe that.

Why? It's a fact that he doesn't like it and he liked around 7k posts, doesn't that sound like protest? Or are you saying that you think so many other people disliked it so it was removed? I could see others complaining, but he was the most vocal. When you say, "That's so stupid if that's the reason," do you mean, if that's the reason he liked everything or if that's the reason the like function is removed?

Cuz it's just a like button. It's not like it notifies you every time is happens like fbook. I thought it was funny with chip and cool to see who likd the post without having to say anything.

I could be wrong but just find if hard thats the reason why.

Kaepernick, Alex Smith reportedly celebrate together at San Jose club upon NFC-title homecoming

Kaepernick, Alex Smith reportedly celebrate together at San Jose club upon NFC-title homecoming | 49ers Hot Read

Good Boys!! LOL!!

We're told the guys were pretty tame -- no crazy, insane drunk people. Sources say some of the guys WERE drinking (some bottles of Moet and Cristal were ordered) ... but the night was more of a "sipping and toasting" event ... not a "let's get effed up" kind of a thing.

One source tells us ... most of the clubgoers swarmed Kaepernick ... and it got so crazy, that he went upstairs to a private area to escape the crowd.

I thought it was cool, too. I used it for that reason. He just had a lot of time on his hands to like everything, I suppose. Of course, he probably didn't read all of those, just went through posts liking everything.

I'm sorry to ask you again, but hard to believe that's the reason "why he liked everything" or "hard to believe that's why it was removed"? If the former, why else would he like everything? I'm not asking you why he didn't like the like function. That doesn't matter, I know he didn't based upon the post I linked. He said that himself. He just didn't say the reasoning for liking everything. I agree that it's silly to do that just to get rid of something that's just a like button, but apparently he had the time.

If it's the latter, then yeah, I could see other people complaining about something that was actually a good thing or neutral.

The problem I have is one dude basically changed the process. I don't care if he's a regular or not, the tail can't wag the dog. The mods should have warned him to stop. If not ban him. Sorry, but that's what should have happened. You can't let one person (or even a very few) dictate for the majority. That's a very slippery slope.

Unsung heroes for Ravens, 49ers
Dannell Ellerbe, Randy Moss among underappreciated players

Anthony Davis and Mike Iupati anchor an impressive San Francisco 49ers offensive line.

By now, you know a lot about the coaches in the Super Bowl. You know a lot about the quarterbacks in the Super Bowl. You even know a lot about the linebackers in the Super Bowl. (Between the All-Pro credentials of Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs, Patrick Willis and NaVorro Bowman, this may be the most high-profile linebacker matchup in a Super Bowl since Lawrence Taylor's Giants played Cornelius Bennett's Bills in Super Bowl XXV.)

But there are 53 players on an NFL roster, and there's a good chance that the most important plays in Super Bowl XLVII won't be made by the best-known stars on either team. The 49ers have more receiving depth than they get credit for, and a bruising offensive line that excels at grinding out the clock late in games. The Ravens, meanwhile, have a trio of defensive players whose names may be familiar, but whose on-field contributions this year have gone underappreciated. Let's take a look at the unsung heroes for both teams.

San Francisco 49ers

We'll start with San Francisco, which one year ago finished one game short of the Super Bowl due largely to a wide receivers corps that caught exactly one pass in a playoff loss to the New York Giants. Kyle Williams and Ted Ginn Jr., weren't getting the job done, so the 49ers made some moves in free agency, bringing in Mario Manningham and Randy Moss. On the surface, the results weren't earth-shattering, as neither player topped the 500-yard mark. The ripple effect of those moves, though, affected the entire team.

In 2011, San Francisco wide receivers not named Michael Crabtree caught 4.4 passes per game, with a catch rate of 56 percent. In 2012, Crabtree's supporting cast caught 5.4 passes per game, and their catch rate shot up to 65 percent. The added threats meant that defenses could no longer devote 100 percent of their efforts to stopping Crabtree, who caught more passes per game (from 4.8 to 5.3) with a higher catch rate (64 percent to 67 percent), more yards per catch (12.1 to 13.0) and more touchdowns (four to nine). Crabtree's improvement, by the way, didn't have much to do with San Francisco's quarterback switch. He actually had a significantly higher catch rate with Alex Smith throwing the ball, though he averaged more yards per play after Colin Kaepernick took over.

The 49ers are capable of passing, obviously, but they prefer to run, and that's where their dominant offensive line comes in. San Francisco's starting quintet of Joe Staley, Mike Iupati, Jonathan Goodwin, Alex Boone and Anthony Davis is a perfect blend of stability (all five were 49ers in 2011), durability (zero missed starts in the regular season or playoffs) and talent (Staley, Iupati and Davis are all former first-rounders). It's no secret that the 49ers were fourth in rushing yards, or that Kaepernick set a quarterback record with 181 rushing yards in the playoffs against Green Bay.

But none of that really shows how effective San Francisco was at run blocking.

Football Outsiders' adjusted line yards metric adds a penalty for runs stuffed in the backfield and caps off all runs at 10 yards, so the numbers aren't skewed by a handful of long yards. It also looks at running backs only, to eliminate the effects of quarterback scrambles on passing plays. And San Francisco had the best adjusted line yards mark in the league. They were also first in second-level yards, which only counts gains made 5 to 10 yards past the line of scrimmage. When it comes to knocking defenses off the ball and clearing room for a running back, there's no team better than the 49ers.

Baltimore Ravens

San Francisco's most underappreciated players are on offense, but Baltimore's are found on the other side of the ball. Before we go any further, it's important to note the difference between "underappreciated," "underrated" and "unknown," because we're about to discuss some of Baltimore's most well-known defenders. Take Suggs, for example. A former All-Pro with 84.5 career sacks, the outside linebacker is one of Baltimore's most famous players, but on the surface he made minimal impact in 2012. Suggs missed eight games this season with Achilles tendon and biceps injuries and finished the year with just two sacks, the lowest total of his career. However, when he did play, he was still enough of a threat to draw double-teams and open opportunities for his teammates.

As FO boss Aaron Schatz noted in our AFC Championship Game preview, the Ravens' sack rate (adjusted for down, distance, and opponent) was 5.7 percent without Suggs and 7.9 percent with him. That's nearly a sack per game on a typical number of pass plays.

While Suggs is best known for putting quarterbacks on the ground, Bernard Pollard is best known for putting New England Patriots on the injury list. And that's unfortunate, because he deserves credit for being one of the league's more active safeties. He was in the top 10 in his position in plays, and top 20 in successes and defeats, the three statistics we use to analyze defenders at Football Outsiders (more info here). Don't focus on the half-dozen or so plays in his career that have sent Patriots to the sidelines; focus on the half-dozen plays he makes each week that help Baltimore win games.

Finally, we have linebacker Dannell Ellerbe. Ellerbe went undrafted out of Georgia in 2009, and started only seven games in his first three seasons in Baltimore. He opened the 2012 season as part of Baltimore's rotation, and he averaged 40 snaps a game in the first six weeks of the year. Then Ray Lewis tore his triceps, and Ellerbe entered the starting lineup. He hasn't left it since, averaging 66 snaps a game since then (including a 27-snap performance when Ellerbe suffered an ankle injury that caused him to miss three games). Even when Lewis returned to the field in the postseason, Ellerbe has stuck in the starting lineup.

In fact, Lewis and Ellerbe are the only Ravens linebackers who played every defensive snap in the wins over Denver and New England. Ellerbe finished the regular season with 13 games and only seven starts, but he was just outside the top 20 at his position in plays and successes, and just outside the top 10 in defeats. Ellerbe will likely be taking over for Lewis next year, but by that time he could already be a Super Bowl champion.
