not bad for a 3C though his penalties I am sure will not be helpful to the Rags.

He's going to be their 4C, and even though Stoll's FO percentage dropped every year the last 3 years in LA (56.0%, 54.7% and a dramatic drop to 51% last season) he still was better than the entire NYR team average FO% of 46.7% (3rd worst in the NHL) and best NYR player (Brassard, 48.8%).

Stoll should only help in that aspect, unless his FO% plummets yet again. Offensively the Rangers play a speed game, and Stoll has shown he has some offensive skill, so maybe we will see an uptick in his production since the Rangers don't play as defensive a game as LA.

Personally, I hope he pulls it together too and gets his career back on track. At worst, it's a 1 year deal for chump change and the Rangers get a veteran winner who knows what it takes, and they need a push after 2014 and 2015.

Got him short deal and low cost. If he sucks throw him out him on waivers and someone will pick him up. Very low risk and high reward. Keep him away from Alantic City

LAKI had a nice article about him a few days ago, I'm surprised he didn't know he was not going to be re-signed by LA; forget the contract, his arrest is what sealed the deal. Dumbo was so up this guy's nuts from from day 1 he would have found a way to keep him but Stoll made him look pretty stupid after Dumbo propped him up as essentially the consummate pro the last 7 years. Writing was on the wall as soon as your arrest hit TMZ, buddy.

For Stoll, Los Angeles nostalgia, New York excitement — LA Kings Insider

This one was gold from Stoll:

It’s a very tough situation I think we’ve all seen it with free agency this year. The money is a little bit down from previous years, and the contracts are a little lighter.

The money is a little bit down? You took a 75% pay cut ($3.25 million to $800,000). Nobody likes to say their services weren't sought after but it doesn't a rocket scientist to see this is what happened. That nose candy pretty much sealed his fate.

Pretty much what happens with all UFAs still lingering around in August unless there is something else going on (Mitchell and his concussions for example).

Puck, I agree with all you said about Stoll. Also, as I know you are aware, the significant downtrend in his play, including all the stupid penalties, contributed to his massive pay cut.
