They aired some footage at the event where they released the poster but it hasn't been put online. One thing that has people buzzing is a shot of Rey wielding a dual bladed red lightsaber and she's wearing dark robes. It could be a fake out (like from a vision or something that doesn't come to be) but some are already fan theorizing that this is how Palpatine comes back. Rey is Palpatine reincarnated or his Force essence needed a host to takeover (which is similar to some of the multiple Palpatine clone stuff they did in the old books that are no longer canon)

I'm already theorizing that "Rise of Skywalker" is Kylo Ren's good Skywalker genes causing to to turn hero & defeat Rey in the end, who turns bad.

There's no way that Disney lets Rey turn to the dark side. It wouldn't fit in with the agenda of their enlightened company. It's probably a vision or she's possessed by Palpatine for a time.

If she was truly turning to the dark side, would they actually put that in the trailer? Although some of been predicting it since Episode 7 came out. I think that would still be a pretty big twist that they wouldn't want to even partially spoil in the trailer.

I would kinda agree with that. I'm sure their goal of a continuing Star Wars franchise would not do well with an evil Rey.

I'd like to see something different.

Emperor uses his influence to cause conflict in Rey.
Rey turns to the dark side, believing it's the only way to stop Kylo.
Kylo sees that the emperor has chosen Rey over him and flips.
He turns Rey back to the light and together they take down the emperor.

Star Wars has been very cookie cutter, so anything that flips the script would be welcome by me.

After having seen the new footage that they released, I have a bad feeling about this--and I'm not talking about a ominous foreboding bad feeling like the OT, I'm talking more like a PT disaster staring you in the face bad feeling.

I may be not be looking closely enough at it, but it looks like the TIE fighter that Rey leapt over in the teaser trailer may be Kylo's, as one looking similar is behind him in one of the new footage we got (about 1:32 in, if you're wondering what I'm referring to).

I agree. Let's see how it ends before we bury it. I think Chris Nolan is directing this one and he usually delivers movies that fans like.
