so you're saying keeping Brieres and his maybe 30 goals and resigning Leino and his 20? is better then getting Stamkos who will prob have the same goal production??? Also since when do the Flyers ever keep their own first round picks ? :P

Is that your only arguement?

stamkos isn't a guy that makes his linemates better.. he's the opposite i think.. he needs a good linemate for him to produce.. i think it would be hard to note put giroux with him.. but then shenn is your 2nd line center basically.. is that worth it?

well thats one more ^ :)

but yes i'd rather have briere and leino and the 4 1st rounders then stamkos.. if he gets hurt youre fucked.. plus leino and briere, while adding to the goal total add to the assist total.. they combined for 121 points, to stamkos' 91..

13/18 = .72 ppg in the playoffs for stamkos

9/11 = .81 ppg in the playoffs for briere

dont even need to bring leino into that one.. and this was a down season for briere's playoff standards.. and stamkos had the better team in the playoffs (sadly enough)

I guess I'm expecting a lot more out of Giroux and JVR this season and the more ice time they get then better I think they will become. I've never been a fan of 3 big time scoring lines, I prefer having 7 forwards who can interchange on your top 2 lines, a shut down line and an energy line.

I also disagree on Stamkos needing good players to play better he made Downie look pretty damn good at time the past 2 seasons.

and now i'm gunna come back to the 4 1st round picks.. you do realize the next first round pick we take is 14 right now if we do this.. 14!

i understand moving 1st round picks, i dont understand moving 4 of them at a time.. look at the last trade we made for 3 (essentially) first round picks.. we got pronger, who played half a season this season, doesn't look good for the start of next season.. and he's a 36 yr old with a back problem and a 4.9 mil cap hit that cant be erased until he's 42.

thats fine, ignore the 3rd member of the line who was 2nd in the league in points and assists.. martin st. louis is a bonafide super star thats the height of that 14 year old we want to draft and deserves more credit than he gets.. he still managed 20 points in 18 playoff games while the guy you think is making downie better only had 13

i do agree with having 2 scoring lines a shut down line and a checking line though.. but to do that you have to have 2 lines that can provide all the goals.. and with guys like simmonds and hartnell taking up 2 of those spots, the flyers wont have that kind of firepower.. i love giroux, but he's not the sidekick that malkin, zetterberg, whichever sedin you think is the sidekick.. he's just not.. i think he's a fantastic player and will improve immensely with increased playing time, but he's still not those guys..

and i watched the bolts steam-roll the caps this year with a whopping 2 points from this guy

dont get me wrong, he's a great player and i would love to have him.. but he is NOT worth what the flyers have to give up

and my last one, a little more detailed just from watching the caps and bolts a lot this season.. living in a cap fan heavy town this season..

stamkos is a similar player to ovechkin, he does one thing, exceptionally well.. stamkos sits above at the top of the left circle and slams one-timers.. last year they showed a breakdown of his goals when him, ov, and sid all had 51 or whatever.. stamkos probably had 30+ from that one spot.. he's a one-trick pony.. which isn't all that different from ovechkin.. if you watch the caps play a lot, he does the same thing on every break-in.. he skates up the left boards, and either pulls up and shoots, or pulls up to toe-drag around the opponent and drive the net wide.. people keep pointing to the caps playing more defensive for the reason OV's production was down, but i think its because people are getting used to him.. if they get used to blocking the high circle from stamkos, his production will fade too.. and it may not show as much in the regular season because teams aren't playing the same team for a week.. in the playoffs shit like that doesn't work.. there's a reason the caps cant figure out the playoffs, and its because their golden goose lays an egg in the playoffs.. and he does that because he's predictable. and stamkos is predictable as well.

Makes sense now. I was trying to figure out how you could get 4 1st in 2 seasons.

now that'd be a trick that would come in handy haha

Yes, but somebody from this team is going to be playing in a different uniform if we get Stamkos.
