So who will it be G, St Louis, Neal or Staal??? May be hard for that punk yzerman not to take his boy or give crosby his first lady. Not being biased but G can do it all PK PP wing or center but apparently that doesn't matter.....:lame:

Statistically & positionally, Joe Thornton deserves the next roster spot.

Honestly I'm fine with G not going, he'll be rested for the stretch run

I think Stevie Y has to put Marty in there

He'll prob go with Marty but Thornton should be the pick to be honest and if I were G and for some weird reason he was chosen I would tell Stevie where to put his choice, right up his ass!

Because he has one more point than G and he's also a center? Please. Joe Thornton is ice cold right now. Not only did Giroux and the Flyers just scorch him head to head in his own building, but G is 8 and a half years younger and has 32 points in his last 25 games. Nobody that was left off the team is hotter right now. Nice try though.

So because the Flyers beat the Sharks that means Giroux deserves it more than Thornton? By that logic every Canadian player that beats the Flyers deserves it more than Giroux. Nice try tho.

Nobody left off the team is hotter than Giroux AND he got the better of a slumping Thornton head to head in the very last game played. Yes, I'd say that all matters very much.

Neither is likely to make the team. Calm down buddy.

Based on age, position, versatility and how everyone is currently playing, Giroux should be the first choice. If he's not, I won't at all be surprised if Yzerman replaces one of his Lightning with another in St. Louis.

It will be St Louis & age has nothing to do with the Olympic selection.

When you have two or three guys who are statistically similar and one is nearly 13 years older than another, age will probably be discussed at some point. Besides, I think Tampa is better off resting St. Louis during the break, which also could factor into the decision given who is making it.

Age only matters if you're talking about someone a couple years or more down the road, not 2 weeks down the road.

If you want to go by what's important on the big ice surface it's skating, agility and speed. Please don't tell me that Thornton or the rest are better in those categories than G. Plus G can play all positions and regularly kills penalties and is a PP monster. He's also scoring and setting up with the best of them right now. Either way it wouldn't shock me if St Louis is picked.

Someone mentioned that G has 37 points in his last 21 games is that true? If so that's nuts and would put him near the top if it weren't for the hand injury. He'd also be up there in goals so not being a sniper argument doesn't really work either. Will be interesting to see what happens...by the way no one's talking Thornton....

It's 32 points in his last 25 games. Either way, that's a hotter stretch over a longer period of time than anyone else who was left off the team. Furthermore, he's scored 5 goals in his last 7 games (so he can and will score goals), is a right handed shot (of which only 5 of the other 13 forwards on Team Canada are) like Stamkos and also runs the power play from the same location. That's another reason to take him. G trails only Crosby among Team Canada players with 18 power play assists. There aren't many guys in the world who run a better power play. If he can do it with Simmonds, Hartnell, Voracek and one of Timonen/Streit, he can sure as hell do it on Team Canada.
