If you want to go by what's important on the big ice surface it's skating, agility and speed. Please don't tell me that Thornton or the rest are better in those categories than G. Plus G can play all positions and regularly kills penalties and is a PP monster. He's also scoring and setting up with the best of them right now. Either way it wouldn't shock me if St Louis is picked.

This post is right on the money when you are considering a final spot between Gee and Thorton. i also beleieve MSTL will go but between thorton and gee no contest gee wins hands down on the big surface.

Players need speed that's why it has to be G or St.Louis although people were saying before that St.Louis speed wouldn't translate as well over there he's more quick than straight line fast.

Do you guys think the NHL players will even finish the tournament? All it takes is one incident & the NHL players are withdrawing from the games. They interviewed Geno last night and asked him how excited he is about Sochi and he didn't even seem to care. I just don't have high hopes this year. Hope I 'm wrong but Sochi looks like it has the makings of a disaster. At the end of the day, I doubt if anyone actually wants to go to Sochi.

Yeah, Giroux would probably be the best fit, Thornton is the most deserving, but that would be a very awkward situation in Tampa if Stevie Y doesn't go with MStL.

i'm good w/ that decision.. from a canadian stand point it makes sense (had to be him or G IMO).. from a tampa stand point it makes sense.. from a flyers stand point, G gets rest.

Yeah had a hard time imagining it would be anyone besides MStL. I think he was the safest pick, especially for Yzerman.

I agree, I don't think the men's ice hockey tournament is going to work out well.

From what I have been reading, the Olympic village is in such shambles that some of the participants are unrecognizable because some of the top names in say snowboarding for example have sent agents over to Soshi to check the accommodations and many are withdraawing and not even going from the USA.

So, if a guy gets hurt or is just flat out tired, I see many more coming home early. Freakin Ruskies have supplied security (and that is even suspect) but not a whole lot of anything else.

All it takes is one incident & Bettman will pull the NHL players. Well, Bettman just added an incentive for the terrorists to make a move. Now they know for sure they could mess up the biggest event at the Olympics by just creating 1 incident, they don't even have to kill anyone to mess up the Olympics. Damn...
