Can you say, "prevent defense?"

Did you watch? That wasn't a prevent defense. That is just bad man to man defense for the most part. You Could have Revis, Sherman, Berry, and Thomas in the secondary in a Man D and if the coaching isn't there, they are going to look like scrubs in the modern NFL.

Playoffs have no impact on COY, I don't believe.

Secondly, how is that Reid's fault? He mostly presides over the offense.

Pardon me for being critical
I just don't think that Reid deserves COY for a 2-5 last 5 games.
No the playoffs has no bearing on COY but it does have bearing on my opinion.
(whatever)

Sort of hard to forget when you're casting your ballot. Conscious or not, his loss in the playoffs will have an impact on his COY candidacy.

I thought voting was already completed, although I cannot find a specific link to verify this.

How exactly will it have an impact on his COY candidacy when VOTING IS ALREADY OVER?

It's why both the MVP and COY awards are stupid. They shouldn't be voted on until after the Super Bowl.

Mike Shanahan hands down...........He took sh*t and won 3 games with it, then got fired for stocking the team with sh*t.!!!! So name him award winner......prepare to hand him the trophy, yank it back and say sike!!! That's what he did to DC.

Picked Rivera.

I don't think anybody is surprised with the #1 seeds at all.

Even though NE is #2 seed, it seems like a down year for them.

SF is not the same team that they have been the past 2 years.

Sean Payton doesn't deserves it more than Arians but not as much as Andy Reid.

Eagles were not all too consistant and almost did not make playoffs.

Andy Reid would have been my next vote.

lol, who saw the Chiefs as a playoff team, they were 2-14 last year? how is he not running away with this. Carolina is better than expected but didn't have near the climb to get up the hill.

Who saw it? Well with last years Pro Bowl KC had the most players voted in. So the marks of a bad coach were all about. Andy came in and did what a good coach can do. It's no real surprise that he did a great job but also should get coach of the year consideration.

Do you really have to have a coach do something unexpected with a team in a year to make it as the years best coach? Sometimes a team is ready to go but has everything disorganized and just needs to get players on the same page with a new system. But if you have to do a total transfusion as in Pete Carrols case it may take 3-4 years of consistent improvements.

According to precedent... yes, it kind of does on a 1 year basis. This is why BB from NE hasn't won as much as maybe should if we go by "best coach." If we made a thread called "Who is the best coach" then it would be a vastly different discussion.

I think the award itself kind of lends itself to a Cinderella, rags to riches story. Overcoming adversity and getting the best out of players and elevating their game.

If the award was for "best coach" then why vote? Just hand it to the Superbowl winner every year as they obviously were the best coach that year.

I had to go with Pete Carroll. Substance suspensions notwithstanding; he did an amazing job this season. Especially losing Harvin, 2 pro bowl caliber linemen & others.

The Seahawks were Super Bowl favorites. Coach of the Year honors usually go to coaches who teams make dramatic turnarounds. Arians or Andy Reid, or Rivera

I went with the homer pick, since I wanted the guy fired after week 4, and we're now the #2 seed, and I feel like I owe him.

Lol after 4 weeks I couldn't convince anyone the Panthers were any good. After the Rams game I tried telling my friends that the Panthers were a legit team and they just laughed it off.

The Bills game in week 2 was pretty flukey and the defense played really well against Seattle.
