I'd say Chip #1 because coming from college and having to change qb's mid season, still made the playoffs.
Pagano #2, because this is his first full season as a HC and they lost their best wr, still won division.
And Arians #3 because he has done it 2 yrs in a row, turned 2 different losing teams into a winner.....

The only reason I disagree with Rivera is because of the talent on that team. The job Arians has done in Arizona is nothing short of miraculous. I could see Andy Reid a close second for the turnaround there.

I had the exact same reasoning for voting for Arians.

I went with Reid.

On another note - While I don't think he should win it, I do think Mike McCoy should at least be mentioned in the conversation. 1st year head coach takes the Chargers to a 9-7 record, in the toughest division in football, and gets them in the playoffs. We were expected to be competing for a top 5 pick this year by many.

That is kind of what I was wondering as well. I would think McCoy is atleast deserving of being in the conversation.

Belichick isn't going win this award. He did a nice job, but he's not going to win it for winning the AFC East. That's been a given for a long time and not just because the Pats are good.

It won't be belichick, because he's the best coach every year and is taken for granted.

4th in scoring offense and 10th in scoring D with the amount of key players that were hurt was one of the more impressive jobs he's done, though.

Sean Payton has no place on this list. He had a very uninspired year and those Saints coaches got shown up a few different times IMO.

lol, who saw the Chiefs as a playoff team, they were 2-14 last year? how is he not running away with this. Carolina is better than expected but didn't have near the climb to get up the hill.

Personally I think the hype on KC is a bit overblown. They have beaten ONE playoff team, and that was Philly in week 3 who started out the season 1-3. They have currently lost 5 of their last 7. I agree the turnaround was very impressive and Reid has done a great job there. But they have not beaten anyone to brag about and that detracts from Reids nomination in my opinion. Arizona beat the Seahawks, Colts, and Panthers.... that is far more impressive in my opinion.

No playoffs = not a good enough job.

Typically you might have a good point. But Arizona would have gone to the playoffs in any other division than the NFC West which is clearly the toughest division in football.

I don't care. He didn't get in.

He didn't even get the win the last game of the season to make it close.

BB and not because I'm a homer. RR 2nd, Carroll last. (average job with a very good team)

Ariens did a fantastic job but is inelligble.....(12 teams made the playoffs)

I put the homer glasses on hold and voted Rivera. Was on the fence between him Reid, although a case could be made for a couple more.

Well, I voted Arians just because AZ was in such a tough spot in the NFCW. And having Carson Palmer at QB. He can derail a teams season when he becomes a turnover machine but I'll give Palmer credit this year. I had no doubt how good Az's defense was and is. It is top-notch.

Having said that, I think Rivera, Reid, Belichek, Pagano, Kelly all deserve credit and any of them winning would be okay with me. Reid is probably the guy that's going to win, imo. I think he's the sentimental choice among the voters but Rivera's late season surge has made this really close. The deal I have with Reid is that KC was only a half-decent QB away from being competitive. No way should they have been a 2-14 team last year with that talent (this year's Texans are almost exactly the same). However Reid did get them on the right track so I give him his due. Rivera was so close to the chopping block, his neck hair was being shaved by the axe but Carolina has a good team and a great defense that was underachieving at the start of the season. He did get them playing to their capability. I think the other guys will be on the outside looking in, deserving or not.

I would have voted for Rivera regardless, but LOL @ having Sean Payton in the poll and not Marvin Lewis.

Lewis only coached his team to a division title and a flawless home record...all while losing his 2 best defensive players.

Chiefs have a ton of talent and greatly under-performed last year.

If They win a playoff game or two, then Andy Reid would get my vote.

But Ron Rivera has done a great job this year.
