IMO, your best 5 if all were healthy has Biadasz at center.

I think Martin goes to tackle and I think it will be left tackle...could be wrong, we'll see soon enough
I think your right about Martin. I do think Biadasz is the next starting center for 7-9 years.

Smith cap hit the next 3 years: $14M, $15.3M, $15.4M. Well worth it if he were healthy and played 16 games but this will be the 5th year in a row he hasn't and over those 5 years he will have missed an average of a little over 5 games. If he plays 11 games at $15M, that's a $22M pace for 16.

Regardless, I think the obvious point on Smith isn't getting rid of him quite yet, it's planning for him to miss games and have a quality starting backup because anyone that watches the Cowboys knows it's almost a definite at this point and unlike other teams who may or may not need a backup OT, for the Cowboys it's not a matter of if, but how many backups will we need. So far we are up to 3 this year and 4 if you count moving guys around.
I'm not saying release him now, I'm saying the team needs to take health into account when signing and or renegotiating contracts.

Still - I'm OK with Biadasz continuing to start. I suppose I could be convinced to put Looney at RG and move Martin out one spot...
I am all for putting our Rookie center in the starting role the rest of the year. let him deal with the growing pains now. He is one of the least of our worries on this line. Will only make him that much better for next season.

Sean Lee doesn't hurt us contract wise. He has always signed an injury friendly contract. Even when he got his so called big contract it has a lot of insurance in there for missing time with injuries. I dont know why anyone would bitch about his contract. I hope he goes straight from playing for us to coaching LBs for us. One of the smartest LBs out there. Wouldnt mind seeing that happen next year actually. (No offense to whoever our LB coach is this year)

Is it wrong that I'm hoping Tank and Jaylon are secretly playing injured and that once healthy they will get better again? Heck, throw Griffin and Poe in there too. Our only good defensive players so far this year have been Smith and Thomas. I thought Awuzie played pretty well before getting hurt.
Smith as our best defensive player so far, says allot about how bad our defense has been.

You literally just repeat things I say to you a year later as if it makes it true. This is like the 3rd or 4th time now :pound:
Nope that's just your spin.

You've had issues with me for a long time. You bait and when I point it out like I did in this thread you try to accuse me of being what you've always been here, which is butt hurt. It remains in the posts and most of the time I can ignore your baiting but sometimes your outrageous posts like head in the sand is too much to ignore.

as always judge....I give you the last word cause your tap dances bore me

that is comedy to think Smith has been the best defensive player. If he's not late with his reaction, he's guessing which gap to fill. He can't get off blocks any better than Bradie James could back in the day. IMO, Thomas has far and away been the best LB thus far

Good post....This guy gave money back before the 2019 season. He defines team player.
it's as if people post the same negative stuff multiple times for a reaction....kinda like andresrenee does Dak each game day

Yep. I don’t know where Looney plays going forward (I expect he’ll play somewhere) when he’s healthy but it won’t be at Center as long as Biadasz is healthy.

Well if we are talking Alton Smith then yes he is our best defensive player.
Out of the league for 5 years and comes in as our best defensive player!
That is fucking sad .
Bottom line this defense is terrible and it falls on coaches Jerry and company and the players all are to blame .
Jesus please help us get out of our own damn way

I love Lee, but when was the last time Lee played well? He's not worth the $4M cap hit to sit in the trainers room another year. You don't pay players for what they did 5 years ago in a cap world. Thomas at this stage is a better player even when Lee is active, but then again Thomas is better than our supposed impact LB that seems to be nothing other than a magnet for OGs. We don't need a coach, we need players to make tackles. I'm all for making him a coach right now and using his money and Crawford's money and a few other's on some players.

I don't have any issue with you other than I hurt your angry, butter, feelings one too many times and you can't get over it. I don't hide anything and I seldom talk about individual posters here. I usually refer to Cowboy fans in general and usually more twitter than here, but since you want me to point at you, here's another finger. Sit and spin...

I wonder if we just go shot gun half the game to allow Dak to get the ball out quicker. We never seemed to be a 3 step drop team so maybe we'll go back to what we did in 2016 to help Dak see the field and make quick decisions before he gets killed. Maybe lots of slants and other quick hits too.

Unrelated note just saw this team is giving up 172.5 rushing yards per game. Small sample size and we were behind early every game, but Wow.
