I was hoping to not give up a 3rd rounder. Pitt didn't even want him on the team at this point because he was a such a problem so I was hoping to get him for a 4th. I guess as long as they have a guarantee that he won't hold out this year it's great value because his talent is worth much more than a 3rd and it was a massive hole for sure and his talent is undeniable. Then they can decide after the season if they want to give him a mega deal next year or not. IMO a legit #1 WR talent IF he gets his head screwed on right. But, that's why he was available in the first place, so I guess this proves once and for all that all of this character first, guys who love football talk was just talk that applied to the lesser players, but for the talented guys it's the same old same old in Dallas.

I was listening to NFLN on Sirius a little this morning and they were talking about some of his issues (not that we don't already know them). He showed up late for game more than once, including once after the inactive list had already came out. Often showed up late for practice. Is known to "half ass" his routes and not even run the right route a lot of the time. Fights with players, fights with fans, Fought with the media and even fought with his coaches including Tomlin. Sideline outbursts. I was talking to one of my neighbors who is a big Steelers fan after the draft and he was praying Dallas traded for him. He compared him to a young AB and said 'you never know if he is just going to walk off the field in the middle of a game also'. I'm hoping that the change of scenery will bring a new attitude. This guy has to know that he is playing for what could be $30M per year this year. You just have to toe the line with that kind of money on the table, don't you? On the over/under 7 1/2 wins. After this rumor broke I bet teh over, so I guess that sums up my thoughts of how it will impact our season. Maybe it's a good thing J Lew is gone. Those two fought all game long when we played.

think
Perhaps the best part of the trade value from our perspective is that IF we don't re-sign him after the season we probably get a 4th round comp pick back (If he balls out it could even be a 3rd?). So that almost offsets the 3rd round pick we are giving up. Maybe that takes it from a good deal on paper to a great deal on paper and if you look at it that way it makes the value even that much better. Of course if we do re-sign him that's even better, As long as he matures and behaves (this is probably where Dak and CeeDee need to step up) this should be one we look back on and smile I hope

Obviously Russel Wilson is known as one of the best deep ball passers of all time and Dak isn't, but Fields was also the QB for part of the year and Dak is a way better deep ball passer than him, so I think this is still a very telling stat. Outside skill set so CeeDee can still move to the slot on 3rd down. Stretch the field ability. Size to make contested catches and be a red zone target. Fingers crossed. This really could be a good deal for us :hope:

Another huge aspect: we want to run the ball. How do you load the box when we have both CeeDee and Pickens?

A guy playing for his next deal is usually a good thing from where I sit. It’s the primary reason I’m OK with this deal. As you noted earlier - he leaves and the Cowboys grab another pick.
yep...half full glass here.
the reciever has a lot to play hard for

The comp pick absolutely protects us. The only thing that would concern me would be if they extend him to a huge deal now in the $25M to $30M range. Let him earn it (from a behavior aspect, not a talent aspect because that's proven) this year OR sign him to a team friendly deal now more in the $20M range - he won't go for that though and that's fine.

IMO adding a talent like Pickens at a position that was a massive need after drafting BPA and not forcing filling holes takes our offseason from the B range to the A range. All of those marginal free agent depth signings are now really good supplemental moves instead of what they were originally which were our only moves. Free agency mostly filled out the bottom to the middle of our depth chart or as Parcells said "churned the bottom of our roster" and the draft gave us a couple starters and a couple more rotation guys hopefully and Pickens gives us top end talent difference maker that a team clearly below it's division rivals needed to take a huge step forward.

not so bad and if Guyton takes the year 2 leap that was expected when he was drafted as a guy who wasn't yet ready to play at the NFL level this could be pretty darn good :thumb: :

QB: Dak Prescott
RB: J. Williams/J. Blue
WR: CeeDee Lamb
WR: George Pickens
WR: Jalen Tolbert
TE: Jake Ferguson
RT: Terence Steele
RG: Tyler Booker
C: Cooper Beebe
LG: Tyler Smith
LT: Tyler Guyton

Personally I don't even like Tolbert as a #3, but that's just being nitpicky at this point

That's the part that is overlooked. Because of the potential comp pick, we are getting him for basically a couple of one round pick swaps. For a guy who literally has the same kind of ability as CeeDee. He's just more of a head case. So see if a change of scenery and the chance to play for a big contract results in a big year for him. Either the move works out great for us or we lose him for very little investment. A good deal IMO

They have the cap space to make Amari the #3 and Tolbert the #4. I doubt they will, but they certainly have the space

Diminishing returns. No reason to add Amari at anything above a vet minimum deal (obviously he deserves more than that). Let everyone else fight for the #3 spot. With health for CeeDee, Pickens and Ferguson and a decent amount of catches by our RBs, I don't see too many targets going elsewhere. Plus I still think Turpin gets a couple touches per game

That's why I don't think they will. Amari is the only guy I thought they might still consider for a rental, simply because he's rumored to be looking in the $6-8M range, not $13-14 like Allen.
Personally, I think Turpin deserves more targets. And i think the sleeper is the UDFA Traeshon Holden. That kid can play and will make the 53 IMO

Heard a good point. Pickens has been putting up the numbers he has been with Kenny Pickett and Justin Fields/Russell Wilson throwing to him while receiving the CeeDee treatment of the other teams best corner and double coverage. Now he's going to get some #2's and more single coverage....

This will help the offense quite a bit. Teams will need to pay attention to him. I hope to see more running and a more balanced attack. It could also enable a guy like Blue and Turp to be a serious threat on passing downs. It will also help Lamb

I think the most pressure you could put on the defense is having Lamb, Pickens and Turpin out there together with Ferguson at TR and Blue in the backfield. That lineup would demand 2 deep safeties and 6 in coverage. Then just run the football. And if Dak finds his legs again, he could be 8 yards downfiwld before anyone gets near him

UK. Just think if we had Warren at TE. LOL

If we did the same moves and had taken Warren, we would be a dangerous freaking team lol. Adding Pickens to CeeDee really opens up the field. You put a monster like Warren in the middle, a big play guy that can't be checked solo by a LB or Safety? Crazy man. And I love Booker, but please, tell me who the RG was when Kelce was paired with Tyreek or Gronk with Moss.
That said...The Pickens move has the potential to change the teams win total by a couple of games. That's a Hell of a needle mover

A great move by Dallas. Teams are not going to bracket Lamb with three guys in the RedZone and if they do Pickens going to get open. I especially like the thought of Lamb occasionally in the slot next to Pickens and they going to get lots of attention allowing a guy like Blue or Turp going deep

It's the best move they have made in a long long time
