So then Michigan is being penalized too.
For sure. Michigan is clearly one of the 4 best teams BUT their crescent is not unequivocally better so they won't be making the playoff. That's where the conference title comes in. No one says it fair but that's what happens when you have 4vyeams instead of 8 like it should be

Are you fucking serious dude? Michigan wins that game 7 out of 10 times, maybe more. If that was a neutral field, it would have been a blowout. Michigan was dominating the LOS. They had a fumble on the exchange that cost them a TD. They had some shitty PI calls go against them.

And if Michigan had ONLY one loss they could make a case but they dont. That is the whole point dude. They have more of similar resume to Ohio St than Penn St does

Ohio State should be penalized for not playing in the Championship game.
The Winner of the game should be rewarded for well WINNING the Conference Championship in the best Conference in the country.

This subjective shit is starting to piss me off. Remember when everyone thought Louisville was SOOOO GOOD? People were making the argument that they should get in the playoff over Clemson even though Clemson beat them. Why? Because Lamar Jackson and his explosiveness. Give me a break! Luckily, that one played itself out on the field.

You are one of those people that thinks a CCG should factorva HUGE part in an entire resume. I didnt know the season was only one game. It means a lot but you are basically throwing everything out of the window instead of looking at it as a whole.

The thing you arent not getting is one more loss, not a great loss is a big difference. A huge difference.

So you are retracting what you said earlier that the 4 best teams are chosen? Good boy.

The SEASON determined that Ohio State was not a part of the Championship. WTF are you talking about?

Who's in the playoffs?

Ohio State punched their ticket.

Does Wisconsin get in? Does Michigan? Or what if Penn State wins?

My mind is exploding.

Big 10 is out completely...penalized for taking themselves too seriously and general gayness all around.

Nova. The 4 best teams are supposed to be chosen but the committee uses criteria to judge that. They have it listed out for all of us to look at and everything. The conference title is a weighted criteria so it's a bigger component. When a non P5 winner is being considered their resume needs to be unequivocally better. Ohio States is. Michigan's ( because of their loss to Iowa ) is not better IF yeams like Clemson and UW win. Now if VT and Colorado win then yes Michigan could still get it and give us 3 B10 teams and everyone's head will explode

Yeah, winning your conference championship is totally in your control, so it should matter a lot. If Penn State wins next week, there's no way they should be left out and OSU in. Either both get in or only PSU gets in from the Big Ten. Having the head to head win and the conference championship makes up for having one more loss.

It was the main reason tOSU got into the playoffs in 2014 wasn't it? I would say it factored in on a large scale.

It's not just one more loss though. It's SoS, number of top 25 wins, number of bowl eligible wins, performance vs common opponents, having an average loss AND 1 extra loss. A win at home in a game you trailed by double digits more than you led by ANY amount is nice but it doesn't make up for being behind in 7 other criteria.

The committee is not instructed to treat every criterion equally, and we've seen in the past that conference championship and head to head receive a lot of weight.

Conference titles do carry more weight. That's why OSU will not remain the 2 seed. However conference titles do not make up for a vastlyvinferior resume. If you think they should then the team you should be advocating for is Western Michigan because they are unbeaten

Ohio State barely has a better SOS than Penn State. If you add up each opponents record, it's only like 3 more wins for Ohio State's opponents. So after the Wisconsin game, Penn State will actually have a better SOS. Ohio State had 9 out of 12 bowl eligible while Penn State had 8 out of 12 so now 9 out of 13.

Another thing the committee shoved down our throats back in 2014 with Ohio State was "how well they were playing late" and that the VT loss was not indicative of the current team. You could easily make that same argument with Penn State. If they played Pitt again, they probably win. If they play Michigan again at the Big House, they probably don't lose that bad.

Western Michigan? Discussing them in this PSU-OSU debate would be relevant if you ignored PSU and OSU's head to head matchup and ignored that OSU and PSU are in same conference and that PSU could very well win the conference.

Where'd you go to college? Goddamned old fool.
What difference does it make where I went to college? I'm not making fun of college football teams like you are. As an USC fan you won't hear me ranking on any BIG 10 team like you do.
