So, now TrojanFRIGHT wants to chime in! What a clown?

Since 1990 in the regular season...
UF has played 45 Top 5 Teams
Auburn has also played 45 Top 5 Teams
USC has played only 24 Top 5 Teams :(

Since 1990 in the regular season...
UF has played 75 Top 10 Teams
Auburn has also played 75 Top 10 Teams
USC has played only 49 Top 10 Teams :(

Since 1990 in the regular season...
UF has played 143 Top 25 Teams
Auburn has played 140 Top 25 Teams
USC has played only 112 Top 5 Teams :(

Nice try Champ. I have said it before, I ONLY use Final Poll Rankings so IF you look them up they will match mine!

Now you're catching on. With 8 or 9 SEC in-conference games UF won't be going anywhere soon. But 8 or 9 PAC games we'd be 8-4 or 9-3 and going bowling like USC!!!

Yes, everyone wants to make money and teams that play FEWER In-conference games can make more money so why are you pushing 9 conference games!

I would like to point out that Oklahoma and Texas will be SEC teams and SEC teams will play them MORE often that Michigan will!

You keep calling them "cupcakes" when referring to SEC games, why? Do you think SEC teams play "easier" schedules than Michigan? You are a fool if you do!

Since 1990 (that's 33 seasons) Michigan is #2 in the B1G in the number of ranked teams played in the regular season (behind MSU). Alabama is #8 (tied with our MSU) in the SEC over that span. How do Alabama and Michigan rank nationally? Well, nationally Michigan is #18 (tied with Texas A&M) while Alabama is still tied with Miss St. at #8!!!

Here are the top 25 teams in the number of ranked opponents played in the regular season. There are 65 P5 teams!
#1 Florida...143
#2 Auburn...140
#3 Arkansas...133
#4 Louisiana State...132
#5 Tennessee...131
#6 South Carolina...127
#7 Vanderbilt...126
#8 Alabama...122
#8 Mississippi State...122
#10 Colorado...121
#10 Michigan State...121
#12 Georgia...120
#13 Florida State...118
#14 Kentucky...117
#14 Notre Dame...117
#14 Iowa State...117
#17 Oklahoma...115
#18 Michigan...114
#18 Texas A&M...114
#20 Stanford...113
#21 UCLA...112
#21 Arizona...112
#21 Mississippi...112
#21 Southern California...112
#25 Missouri...111
That's 14 out of 14 SEC teams in the top 25! That's TWO Big Ten teams in the top 25!

Other notables...Washington #38, Texas #39, OSU #42, Clemson #49, Iowa #53, Oregon #61,

FUN STAT: From 1990 to 2022 Ohio State has played 14 Top 5 teams in 386 regular season games.
Over the same time span UF has played 13 #1 teams overall and 15 Top 5 teams just in OOC!!!

So who's playing "cupcakes"?? When you catch up then you can throw stones!!!
Is this ranked when played or ranked at end of season? Where did you pull the data from?

From what I've seen, when comparing conferences the data is very similar in terms of OOC games against top 25 teams.

The SEC plays 4 OOC games (8 in conference games), but often, at best, they will play 25% of those games against a ranked opponent (most often they play at least 3 cupcake games, and some teams have a top 25 opponent in those games).

Other P5 conferences play 3 OOC games (9 in conference games), but often, at best, they will play 33% of those games against a ranked opponent (most often they play at least 2 cupcake games, with some teams having a top 25 opponent).

Some SEC teams play 4 easy OOC games, while some of the other P5 conference teams play 3 easy OOC games.

I just don't understand why some SEC fans will pound their chest about the SEC's OOC schedules. They get an extra game so they can still schedule a soft OOC schedule for 3 games. There are exceptions each season, but the bottom line is that it's all pretty similar.

SEC gets SoCon challenge weekend. B1G gets Illinois/Indiana/whatever. It's really not all that different.

I agree. It becomes even worse when other P5 schools play another P5 opponent in their OOC.

Michigan had a weak schedule the past few years, but they generally play a decent, if not ranked, P5 team in their OOC schedule.

2020: Washington (cancelled due to Covid)
2019: #8 Notre Dame
2018: #12 Notre Dame
2017: #17 Florida

Michigan's next four years:

2024: Texas (10 P5 schools)
2025: Oklahoma (10 P5 schools)
2026: Oklahoma (10 P5 schools)
2027: Texas (10 P5 schools)

So Michigan will play 10 P5 teams for each of the next four seasons.

Alabama's future schedule (4 OOC games)
2024: Wisconsin (9 P5 schools)
2025: Florida State, Wisconsin (10 P5 schools)
2026: West Virginia, Florida State (10 P5 schools)
2027: West Virginia, Ohio State (10 P5 schools)

Georgia's future schedule (4 OOC games)
2024: Clemson, GT (10 P5 schools)
2025: UCLA, GT (10 P5 schools)
2026: UCLA, GT (10 P5 schools)
2027: Florida St, GT (10 P5 schools)

Florida's future schedule: (4 OOC games)
2024: Miami, Florida State (10 P5 schools)
2025: Miami, Florida State (10 P5 schools)
2026: NC State, Florida State (10 P5 schools)
2027: Cal, Florida State (10 P5 schools)

Florida State's future schedule: (3 OOC games)
2024: Notre Dame, Florida (10 P5 schools)
2025: Alabama, Florida (10 P5 schools)
2026: Alabama, Florida, Notre Dame (11 P5 schools)
2027: Georgia, Florida (10 P5 schools)

VaTech's future schedule: (3 OOC games)
2024: Rutgers (10 P5 schools)
2025: South Carolina (10 P5 schools)
2026: Maryland (10 P5 schools)
2027: Maryland, Notre Dame (non ACC game) (11 P5 schools)

Ohio State's future schedule: (3 OOC games)
2024: None (9 P5 schools)
2025: Texas (10 P5 schools)
2026: Texas (10 P5 schools)
2027: Alabama (10 P5 schools)

I could go on and on, but when the SEC schedules 4 OOC games each year, due to playing 8 conference games, most those teams play the same amount of power 5 schools as other conferences. Most often each of the top teams in those conferences play 10 Power 5 schools.

If UF was better at football, they wouldn't have to play so many top 5 teams, as they'd replace a team they played...

It might work that way for OSU but, it doesn't always work that way, genius. Since 1990, during the regular season, UF has beaten 10 teams and tied one team that finished in Top 5 teams (13 wins and one tie if you want to count bowl games). Over the same span OSU has beaten TWO teams that finished in the Top 5 and tied ONE. If you count Bowls then OSU has beaten 7 teams and tied one that finished in the Top 5.

You want say UF is bad yet UF's W/L record vs Top 5 teams is better than OSU!
UF is 13-37-1 Vs Top 5 teams (26.47%) while OSU is 7-21-1 Vs Top 5 teams (25.86%).

I do it to show you that the current game results are NOT a "flash in the pan" but extends back MANY years.

Are you counting in conference games in this list? Because if you are that's part of the problem. The SEC plays in conference games against ranked teams that are ranked on the reputation of the SEC but it has already been established that in conference games are not a good indicator of who good a team is or is not.

This metric is absolutely retarded man. how about we do SU winning pct? You intentionally glean back to 1990 because in the 90s and early 2000s FSU and Miami were beasts.

This is why an expanded playoff is so necessary. There is absolutely nothing about this year that makes Georgia definitively better than OSU or Missouri ranked higher than OU. But by your convo Mizzou is a "top ten win" and OU isn't.

All that parsing of stats is something I left behind long ago along with "who's the best conference" because it's fucking stupid

And entirely irrelevant because now we have 2 conferences much stronger than the others. And it's all because of eyeballs on the TV and nothing else.

So you don't care who teams beat - you just want SU W/L? That's retarded!
Your arguments are LAME.

A) If I remove ALL FSU and Miami games from the data set for Florida, UF STILL plays MORE ranked teams than OSU!
Since 1990
Florida played 33 Top 5 teams, 67 Top 10 teams and 135 Top 25 teams
OSU played 29 Top 5 teams, 61 Top 10 teams, and 131 Top 25 teams

Those totals are slanted in favor of OSU as OSU plays more bowl games than UF. If we limit it to regular season you will see whose schedule is better.

Reg Sea since 1990...
Florida played 30 Top 5 teams, 57 Top 10 teams and 112 Top 25 teams
OSU played 14 Top 5 teams, 43 Top 10 teams, and 102 Top 25 teams

B) Removing the first 1/2 the data set. Now only using 2006-2022
Florida played 25 Top 5 teams, 42 Top 10 teams and 78 Top 25 teams
OSU played 17 Top 5 teams, 34 Top 10 teams, and 67 Top 25 teams

Those totals are slanted in favor of OSU as OSU plays more bowl games than UF. If we limit it to regular season you will see whose schedule is better.

Reg Sea since 2006...
Florida played 23 Top 5 teams, 38 Top 10 teams and 78 Top 25 teams
OSU played 7 Top 5 teams, 23 Top 10 teams, and 50 Top 25 teams

Top
