Will the CFP Winner NOT Play in a Conference Championship Game?

The games are now set:

Big 10: Oregon vs Penn State

SEC: Texas vs Georgia

Big 12: Iowa State vs Arizona State

ACC: SMU vs Clemson

That leaves you with Ohio State, Indiana, Alabama, Tennessee, and Notre Dame. (Will Miami get in?)

Its unlikely barring major injuries in those champ games.
Possible, but I would take the title team field everyday if I was a bettor.

Oregon, Texas, Penn State, and Georgia have won games after bye weeks by 21, 28, 31, 38, 56, 15, and 21 points....best showing all season
Those 4 teams thrived with an extra week to get fully healthy off showcasing some of their best football.
Although Georgia did lose to a road game at Alabama, but Alabama was also on a bye week cancelling out the rest advantage.

That bye week is far more important. The pains and aches of a game don't heal within 7 days usually for any team.
However each team will get some rest for bowl season overall.

Oddly enough, Ohio State is my choice of any of those teams.
Ohio State has the most talent. Their natural talent depth is staggering. They have the highest ceiling of everyone.

Ohio State on paper looks to have the most talent.

Yet it is really hard to believe they can buckle up and win 4 straight games against high end competition.

Tennessee may be the play if their QB can step up to another level.

The only team I could see winning it that isn’t in a conference title is Notre Dame to be honest - the Irish have a really good D and are hot, and would be unbeaten if it wasn’t for the bizarre choke against Northern Illinois. Maybe Tennessee has a chance but I don’t trust their QB. I don’t think Ohio St is going anywhere, and as great of a story as Indiana has been I don’t see them winning it all.

We need to get that 5 seed. Would love to play Boise and Big 12 winner to make the semis

The 5 seed is the sweet spot as a team without the bye. You get an easier game than the 1 seed in the quarters assuming you get out of round 1
