No, but the alternative is also a shit ton worse like Minshew or something, if you're lucky.

the qb market is a problem. Basically if you find a halfway decent qb he is going to cost you a substantial investment of like 20 to 25 percent of the cap. There is no working around this. So you lose a guy or two in the process.

Do you think he'll sign for $40M per year? I think that's probably low at this point, especially if you think he's in the top 10. QBs in their prime tend to push the QB salaries higher, not just get small incremental raises.

He’s #2 in passing yards, top 5 in TD’s and 67% completion percentage. There is a lot more greatness in there. Maybe not top 5 overall QB, but certainly top 10 (I’d say closer to #5 than #10)

Tied for 7th in INTs. 6 lost fumbles as well, better at 20th.

I'd put him just outside of the top 10. His lack of running game has to be factored in as well.

We can trade him back to you for 2 firsts and puka nukua whatever his name is.

Pretty sure we will keep the Super Bowl trophy and draft more studs.

Good luck he’s all yours

Goff is a solid game manager when he has the best Oline in football and some weapons.

Once he feels heat he’s trash We’ve seen the roller coaster all year and throughout his career

Maybe that happens, but I don't think QBs slot in behind the top guys too often unless they are clearly inferior. The last 4 or 5 guys all got more than $41M per on past cap numbers. Lions should probably lock him in sooner than later before more QB extensions drive that target higher.

I really doubt Hooker is the answer to anything other than a potential reserve at this point. If they think he is, then that's their call.

He is good enough for fucking Detroit

He does have the perfect cast for him. Including a hard nosed coach.

I just know what he is. Bring the heat on him and he’s trash

Well going by his stats, he must have had good offensive lines most his career.

Personally, I think he more than just a game manager. He’s not elite, but far from average. Easily top 10 since 2107. Just my two cents.

And? Those big names ahead of him have been blasted for their INT numbers this year. He's closest to Tua in that list. Allen, Hurts, Mahomes and Lawrence bring more to the table. Howell is an outlier that got a lot of reps for a struggling team.

Is this just your eye test or do you have some stats to back it up?

But if they are considered elite, or at least top 10, why not Goff who has as good or better numbers this season?

He did is his good years. Most Lions fans know he can go stinker quick so don’t act like he can’t.

I guess I don’t see his career anywhere near average. I would guess he near top 5 in passing yards, TD’s, and completion percentage since 2017. On top of that, he likely quite a bit higher than average in playoff wins in that time period (more of a team thing, but still a worthy stat).
Idk, this is the old Kirk Cousins/Stafford argument (sans this year where Kirk is amusingly in the top 5) where a good chunk of it is empty calories and/or a coach leveraging an otherwise very good offense, is behind, simply a bad running game, or a combination of these things. Lot of passing yards ≠ elite.

Let's look at Goff's stats since 2017 since you want to bring up career numbers (we'll ignore the Fisherball year for fun), including playoffs:

CPOE+EPA Composite: .091
ADJ EPA/Play: .130
EPA/Play: .107
Success Rate: 48.2%
CPOE: -0.2%

None of these are elite. Even in a depressed offensive environment in 2023, relatively, it's not that good. Let me post the nearest QB with at least 300 plays for each stat for his career to this year ('23-'24)to give an idea, including playoffs:

Composite: Matthew Stafford (15th)
ADJ EPA/Play: Baker Mayfield (14th)
EPA/Play: Baker Mayfield (14th)
Success Rate: Kirk Cousins (13th)
CPOE: Justin Herbert (20th)

So it’s an eye test thing. Gotcha! The numbers compared to other QB’s say differently.

I have a feeling you'll see later this offseason. Hopefully not.

Forgiving his INT numbers because Allen and Mahomes had career highs this year is a weird angle to take. Allen also had 44 total TDs, for what that's worth.

Lmao like the stats on his Super Bowl run when we lost to the patriots? And then the actual Super Bowl vs the Pats?

He threw 1 TD and 2 INTs in 3 games during those playoffs. 1 TD

Oh and then there is the fact we watched all his actual games.

This is for last year, but the ranges are consistent for his career. He is known to struggle with pressure.

QB Rating56.228th
Completion %40.232nd
EPA per pressure play-0.41t-22nd

You mentioned the INT’s from this season, why does it matter if they are career highs? Regardless, who do you think has more career int’s the past 4-5 seasons between these guys?

It’s not about forgiving, it’s about comparison.
