My inlaws have so far been really lucky. Light flooding on their streets, but houses must be elevated enough because so far no water in the houses.

This is incredible.

This is terrifying and tragic, obviously, but from a distance, it's also a fascinating and remarkable example of nature's power.

Honestly, this is, to me, a complete non-story.

The employee took the price they charge for a single bottle, multiplied it by 24, and came up with a per case price.

Sure it's absurd that it's $1.79 for a single bottle of water, but that's their normal price.

Beyond that, the story is essentially what, that a Best Buy employee was kinda stupid and insensitive? I'm shocked!

And just think gasoline prices up .50 or more per gallon in areas across the US that is ok.

But it's Best Buy and they sell warranties that cover nothing and 6 dollar cables for 85 bucks so fuck them. :D

If only there was some other "Higher Authority" that he is supposed to answer to that would have said something along the lines of "what you do to the least among you, you do to me" or something. Maybe a simple "Love thy neighbor" would have sufficed.

Its actually pretty crazy, the house that backs up to my mother in law's got 3 feet of water inside the house. The separation is more than a typical alley, its across a field but its still pretty close. Houston often floods when it barely rains so there is a drainage area that snakes it way through her development. My mother in law's house must be just at the right spot.

This is good in case I ever send my wife back. I'd seem heartless if I sent her back to a tent city.

One of my old High School friends is similar. His house is fine, as are the next few on his street/cul-de-sac. But they are/were trapped in there because after you turn off their street, there's like 3 feet of water. They still have power and everything. They are "hosting" three or four other families. Big grilling parties going on as people from around the neighborhood where power is out are emptying their fridges and freezers. Actually sounds rather nice in the context of it all.

He's worried though. He ran out of beer last night.

I am expecting to read about a middle of the night mission to a one of the flooded houses to retrieve some mythical cache of beer that may or may not exist. Hopefully a human chain involved.

Not all heroes wear uniforms or capes everyone.

And I for one don't welcome our insect overlords...

As if the flooding weren't bad enough. That's terrifying.

One of the houses that stayed dry has to have a kayak or a canoe, right?
