Draft Report this morning says he wants a new contract. That means he wants out. He can opt out after next year and he's making $37,5M. The Pack draft Love and will have to make a decision or he's going to want out. Trade him to the Colts and extend his contract and career playung indoors.
I am not sure trading Rodgers is in the best interest of the Packers. The team has to do what they feel is best for the franchise, right now as usual Rodgers is acting like the sniveling bitch that he has shown himself to be again and again. They got to the NFCCG and the coach made a bad call that could have sent them to the SB.

Does his demanding a new contract mean he gets one? No! Is it in the best interest of the pack to give him one? No! The one caveat is that he is under contract so the franchise price tag will be huge making him even harder to trade. I guess we'll have to see how this shakes out and what offers are made.

So question to all: If I recall AJ Green is a FA do you all think the Pats should take a stab at him?

$1 million dollar prove it deal... But it all depends upon who is under center.... Then again that could work against the Patriots.. "You don't have a QB, I am not signing here" (any FA not just Green)

He is a FA this year.

He's 32. In 2020 he was targeted 104 times and caught 47 passes for 523 yards and 2 TDs. He played in all 16 games.

He made $18M in 2020 and there's no way in hell that Bb weill pay him that kind of money for 47 catches averaging 11 yards and 2 TDs.

If he was willing to take an incentive laden contract with a max value up to $12M, I think he would be worth the risk, but there are younger guys who might be able to play better and do it for much less.

Here's a complete list of all of the WR who are free agents in the NFL this year:
Because money is so tight, most will speak immediately to the Jags, Colts and the Jets. Then they'll come to NE, hat in hand. Once the Colts get Stafford, they'll spend a boatload on at least two of these guys and my guess is Godwin and MMarvin Jnes. If Godwin stays with the Bucs, then it'll be Smith Shuster.

I'd bet on the Jets giving Allen Robinson a pallet of cash.

I think the patriots best shot might be Fitzgerald and possibly fuller because I believe he's still on suspension for games 1 & 2.

ALERT ALERT ALERT

The New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers are in discussions about the Patriots re-acquiring QB Jimmy Garrapolo.

98.5 The Sports Hub is talking about it as I type.

He's a BB favorite. Is he worth the #15? Or has his health made him less valuable??

This could be the perfect fit.

It should be for 2nd rounder. We did them a favor to ship him for a 2nd, the favor should be returned.

No matter what he costs to get he's got two years left at roughly $25M a year.

The Jets currently have the most cap space in the league for 2021 ($81.278 million). Spending that money wisely is a different part of the conversation. But a trade for someone like Garoppolo, with his fully guaranteed salary gone after this year and no commitment to him for 2022 (as previously mentioned, $1.4 million in dead money if he’s released or traded), might make sense. Of course waiting for the possibility the 49ers cut him would make even more sense, but it’s also likely Garoppolo wouldn’t see the Jets as an ideal landing spot.

I thought dead money only applied to bonus money and that's only attached to the team that gave the bonus. I think any bonus money tied to 2021 and 2022 should be dead money to the 9ers in 2021 and the acquiring team only recognizes to the cap what they pay in the year they pay it.

Am I wrong?

Not giving up more than a 3rd for him. I read a while back about the possibility of Sherman and NE? I don't want Sherman but maybe this could be part of moving on from Gilmore?
Some kind of Sher/JG for Gilmore?

But their talking about it does not make it a reality, typically this is idle banter.

Actually the Jags have the most cap space.

Jaguars $69,618,517
Colts $68,707,543
Jets $65,062,454
Patriots $54,861,687

If the Patriots move Gilmore, they pick up $17,170,834. If Hightower retires they pick up $12,445,305. Marcus Cannon is $9,622,918 and if he retires or the patriots cut him he'll cost $2,566,668. Those three guys count $38M+ against the cap. If you include Devin McCourty it becomes four players eating up $50M. IMO, I think Gilmore and Cannon are gone. That will free up an additional $27M and th pts will be sitting around $81M in cap space.

These are exact numbers from Sportrac as of 1/27/2021.
