Patriot's Wire and Boston.Com have similar reports. The Patriots and lions have had discussions concerning the report that the Lions and Matthew Stafford are 'parting ways'. No details or anything concrete. It's expected that the patriots would have to give up #15 at a minimum. Detroit has the 7th pick and if they wanted a shot at Trevor lawrence, the 7th and 15th might be a starting point. Problem is that they have a new coach and staff. Tough to start off with a rookie QB.

There's also the question of whether or not BB would want to bring in a 33 year old QB with his recent dings that have cost him a few games. As one person put it, 'Belichick could sign Fitzpatrick for $10M to $13M less than Stafford and get equal or better results and use the 15th pick for a QB, WR, TE or DL. There will QBs that fit the patriots style in Rounds 3-7.

Sounds like someone heard something and is trying to talk Bill out of it.

Stafford to the Patriots? Doubtful which is why I'm mentioning it on the rumors thread.

Personally, that's not the direction I would want to go as a long term fix and don't know how he would actually do on the Pats.

Hopefully the 49ers will outbid the Patriots and Belichick can do as well signing Fitzpatrick for a year and develop a rookie draft choice.

Spend the FA money on a Will Fuller or Marvin Jones or Kenney Golladay.

If i could get just one top WR, I'd go hard for Juju Smith-Schuster.

You have a death wish... Fitz-tragic will give you hope then, then rip out your heart. But boy those two unexpected come from behind REGULAR SEASON games will be fun.

From the Miami Herald: Fitzpatrick has appeared in 156 NFL games — playing either for or against every NFL team but the Green Bay Packers — yet none in the postseason.

Jeff Fisher has already told UT that he's up for the job.
Jeff would raise their recruiting exponentially.
Not sure Josh could do that.

Personally, I don't see the love for Fitzpatrick.
He has had some fantastic games. Then he doesn't.
He has been run out of town by every team he has played for.

I said this on the other board, the Phins need to be in play on this. Offer up Fitz and pick #18 for Stafford then take Smith at #3 sign White in the offseason so they have a pass catching RB that can block it makes sense to me.

Offer up Fitz
Fitz is a free agent. The Dolphins can't offer him.

It would cost the Dolphins Tua and a couple of late round choices for Stafford.

White told Mike Reiss that he would prefer to stay in New England.

I did not see him on the FA list, I guess I missed it.

I don't agree a couple of late round choices are in play. Like I said # 18 and maybe a 3rd if they can't toss in Fitz as you stated. 18 is a solid pick and if they had to toss in Tua it's IMO a wash, I personally dont think he has what it take in the NFL.

Yep just looked I missed he was a FA.

Stafford is a known quantity. He has an accurate cannon arm. He's got 11 years experience and his knowledge and experience is worth #36 or #50 in the 2nd Round and Tua. Seriously, #18 alone will not cut it. Without Tua, #3 and #50 ay least or if I'm the Lions, I'm looking west....SF.

I did say 18 and 3rd. But Stafford is also beat to shit and that has to be a consideration. Throwing TUA may be more of a burden again I see no value in Tua as an NFL QB

Aaron Rodgers basically said good bye to Geen Bay in an interview after the packers lost to the Buccaneers Sunday.

Nothing official, but now the rumors are that he does not want spend another season in Green Bay. Needless to say it has the NFL buzzing

He has 3 years and roughly $105M left on his contract that signed in 2018 when he extended. His cap hit for 2021 will be about $37.5M and he can opt out after 2021. If he stays the cap hit in 2022 would be 439.5M and in 2023 = $27M.

No matter where he goes, it's going to cost the new team draft picks and you know that they're going to have to have a guarantee that he gives up the opt-out. I'd love to see him in Foxboror but the cost might be too prohibitive.

I like him as a QB hate him as a player. I will be very surprised if he is not in Green Bay next season

Draft Report this morning says he wants a new contract. That means he wants out. He can opt out after next year and he's making $37,5M. The Pack draft Love and will have to make a decision or he's going to want out. Trade him to the Colts and extend his contract and career playung indoors.
