What is the deal with Niskinan (sp) I havent watch many Stars games, but he is -1 with 0 goals.

I don't think he has a lot of playing time. What I've seen in reactions from DAL people is that he was merely a throw in to take off more salary, but he's a defensive guy (and that's already an upgrade from Gogo). In other words, solid 4-6 guy.

This is depressing. Pittsburgh got a lot better with this trade. The Atlantic is already tough as it is. Dallas didn't need to give away legit 25 plus goal scorer for nothing. It only makes it worse.

So does this move all but guarantee that Despres will be with the big club next season? I was holding onto slim hopes that he might be back in junior for 1 final year as a 20 year old.

I think Lovejoy and Depres will be battling it out for the #6 spot....

Neal means the end for either Talbot or Dupuis... on ice out put, Dupper is the better bang for the buck. Unless game 7's are involved.

I think that was solidified after training camp. Unless he has a really bad camp this season, it's gonna happen. How's his season going?

Season is going great. His team (see my avatar) has been ranked #1 in the CHL for 10 weeks straight and he is arguably the team MVP of the team. Because the team is somewhat stacked he likely won't get much league MVP consideration. Usually a guy of his talent would have zero chance of returning to junior as a 20 year old. Even if he wouldn't make the NHL he'd be eligible for the AHL at 20 where he'd likely be better off. But we're looking to host the Memorial Cup next season and most of the other key players will be back so we'll be contenders again and would have to be considered favorites with him back as captain. Most of my fellow fans think I'm crazy, but I thought if we were awarded the tournament that there might be a slim chance the Pens would consider sending him back to junior instead of the AHL if he didn't make the big club. It was a longshot at best though.

Arnott should go the Caps... I don;t want him to, but I think he should...

Truth is he me not go anywhere Arnott says it all depends on how they do before the deadline and whether he feels they have a legitimate shot at the playoffs.Other than that he feels his career window is starting to close and he wants another cup.

I believe I gave that little twerp a spot on my fantasy team at the start of the season. Hasn't provided a blip on the radar to this point.

The one Stars blogger I follow on twitter seems to believe that the fans over-valued Neal because he was just a favorite player. But, I think he was trying to cope with it. This, at worst, for the Pens could result in a draw of a deal, at best, it's a fleecing. Can't wait until Wednesday, because Koon will be back too. I love deadline time of the year :)

"Anytime you do a trade you are trying to make your hockey club better. I think when you add a guy like Alex Goligoski it really improves your defense. He's a two-way defenseman that is really going to help getting the puck to our forwards. He is a smart player. I think that's been a big need for us.

"Obviously it comes at a cost. You give up a good young player like James Neal, but that's the way these things work - you can't get something unless you give something up. I really feel it is a big need for us. I am happy about acquiring Alex. I've talked to him and he is really excited.

"As far as Matt is concerned, it's been a little bit of trying times for Matt the last couple years. He hasn't been able to regain the form he broke into the league with and this is a good opportunity for him to get a new look with another team and hopefully get his career going."

Matt's going to have to re-paint his car, too.
