Derrick started:
- Straight line running and shooting in september of 2012 - 8 months
- Practicing and cutting in december of 2012 - 5 months
- 5 on 5 practices in january - 4 months
- 5 on 5 practices with contact and no restrictions in february - 3 months

His muscles must have an awful memory.

I can't credit for the above post, but pretty damn funny.

Im not sure where the thought comes in that Chicago cant beat the Heat. Hell they split the season series 2-2 this year with the Heat without Rose. Chicago is probably the toughest matchup in the East for Miami WITHOUT Rose so adding him in there would certainly give the Bulls a shot. Bulls and Indiana are the only 2 teams IMO that can hope to beat Miami. Granted its a long shot but the Bulls with Rose were the best team in the East last year and would certainly be the 2nd best team in the East this year.

Rose's decision to not play and help his team in the playoffs could haunt him the rest of his career. I'm sure Chicago fans will not forget it.

What people aren't grasping is that it doesn't matter if they think they can beat the Heat with Rose. It's a matter of being the leader he's suppose to be for his team. Some of his teammates are not 100% but they're out there busting their ass to win games.

He was givin' a massive contract and he's choosing not to play going on 3mos after being cleared. He can do everything on the court that can be done in a regular game. The only difference is there's no name on the front of the opposing jersey's in simualted practice games.

Exactly.

How do you think Joakim Noah feels about going out there in pain and giving it his all when the guy making more money who is supposed to be the leader sits on the bench in a suit? I bet he's not happy about it. He's probably questioning Rose's heart too. I mean how could you not. How could anyone not question Rose's heart at this point.

Fun fact: Rose failed the ACTs three times before he had a friend take the SATs for him. This violation cost Memphis to have all its wins from Rose's season stripped. The ACT is so easy you have to try to fail that test...

If you write your name on it you are guaranted like a 6 or something. How do you fail the ACT?

Not one of you should judge Rose until you inhabit his body and experience what he is going through. I too think he should be playing but only he knows what is good for his health at this point. I know too many people that have been given a clean bill of health but they felt something was still wrong and later found out they were correct.

Has he been cleared to play by the doctors? Have the doctors told him he was ready to play and has the coaching staff worked with him at all to get him up to speed? Rose makes a lot of money and if the doctors has declared him physically ready to play, then the workers comp insurance stops paying his salary and the team has to resume paying those dollars in which case Rose has a contractual duty to report to work and let the training staff and coaching staff tell him what to do. That's how it works in the real world.

Every player is scared after they go through an injury like that and every player has to move past it.

Then why is he practicing at full speed and full contact? He should be out there. Especially when you consider there are guys that more hurt than he is and they are playing. Or if they don't want to risk his future, then just come out and say it. Why say he has been cleared and that he has not returned because he's not mentally ready? What kind of wussy stuff is that?!

That's the thing right there!! If he was going to shut it down until next season, then just come out and announce that he's shutting it down until next season. This whole "Well, he could game back in the next game or series" nonsense isn't fair to his teammates or Bulls fans!!

Plus, he and the team, have to keep giving statements on why he isn't playing yet!!

Rose has a contract with the Bulls. If they want to force the situation they are well within their rights to do so. If they don't force it then everyone else should follow suit and shut it. Practice at full speed and game situations are totally different and not even comparable. He already said he would come back when he is ready. If his teammates have to keep answering questions its because they choose to do so. Its real simple to tell a reporter that Rose has already answered that question and not to ask you again. You can call him a wuss or whatever but you're not in the guys shoes. Why would someone choose to endure this soap opera if it was not necessary?

The point is that it's not necessary. He or the Bulls just needed to announce that he's shutting it down for the season. Then it goes away. Whether or not the teammates, coaches, etc. need to answer those questions, they are being asked anyway.

The media is also making him look worse because they are beginning to "speculate" on "the real reason" that he's not playing. One that's being floated out there is that it's because the Bulls didn't do anything in the off-season or by the trade deadline to improve the team. When you add that to comparisons to injured Bulls players that are playing through their injuries, it makes for distractions that the Bulls don't need.

How do you know what is necessary or not? The media is there to sway the minds of the easily led. More people should use critical thinking and see that its all a soap opera created by the media. The Bulls dont have an issue with it. If they did they would cut Rose for breach of contract and sue him for non performance. The media can float whatever theory they like. they are in the same position we are. None of them are Rose and can tell us what he is going through.

Yeah, the Bulls are going to sue their best player for breach of contract because he isn't playing!! Good luck with them ever getting a star player to play their again!! Seriously, you can do better than that.

The soap opera that they are going through isn't necessary. If he's not going to play, then say he's not going to play and the media moves on instead of speculating about why he's not playing and when he might play.

As for the media and the "easily led"!! The media is where the vast majority of people get their information because it's how information is disseminated. The critical thinking comes in by putting together statements from the Bulls and Rose re: what is going on.

Personally, I have said previously that I thought he should just shut it down and come back next year. However, I also think that it should have been announced as such. This would end all of this speculation about his return (at least until the off-season).

He said he will play when he is ready. It might be this year or not. What is wrong with that? Point is he gave them an answer that they arent satisfied with. Why should he say he is shutting it down for the rest of the the year just to satisfy them if its not true?

Because unless they win today, he will have shut it down for the season anyway. He also didn't help himself when he made the comment that it's "mental" with him.

Bottom line is that it just doesn't look good. We can debate all day long on whether or not it "not looking good" matters or not, but the simple fact is that whether we like it or not, perception is reality to most folks and right now the perception of Derrick Rose is that he's soft and that he's basically abandoning his teammates.

Even members of the media who have been supportive of him (Steve Kerr, for example) are starting to say that he needs to get out there.

It is just a bad look that he's been cleared for several months now and still hasn't played a game.

Its a bad look because people tend to think negatively. I know that I'm thinking he should play but then I asked myself why would someone go through all this if they were really 100%? He is potentially messing with future money in the terms of endorsements/contracts by sitting out because of public perception.
