Rodgers would make sense for the Steelers in every aspect - except the Steelers way and the Rodgers way are completely at odds.
Rodgers is no longer good enough to make those plays/demands...so, yes - teams are standing up, but only because he's broken down...lolTeams are finally standing up to him and saying, F You we won't put up with your demands anymore

Sure seems that way. Some teams. I think the Giants and Steelers are still very interested.
I fully believe Cam Heyward would just break Rodgers in half by week 3.Rodgers would make sense for the Steelers in every aspect - except the Steelers way and the Rodgers way are completely at odds.
I can't blame Rodgers for wanting to play for the team that won 14 games last year. I also think that the Vikings are making a mistake....putting all their faith in a QB who has yet to throw a pass in the NFL. McCarthy could end up being a bust...or one who is better off not being rushed. After reading today about how the Vikings are moving forward with JJ McCarthy, it got me to thinking. Is Rodgers looking to get a backup position on a team knowing that he is washed? Was he trying to get an offer from the Vikings so he can suit up for another season without having to actually play? He has teams wanting to sign him but it seems like he is stalling unreasonably.
If I were a Steelers fan right now I'd be pissed at this stupid waiting game.
They spent a top pick on a QB so they have to give him a shot to see if he is a bust while he is still on a relatively cheap contract. Signing Rodgers could ultimately stunt his growth.I can't blame Rodgers for wanting to play for the team that won 14 games last year. If I were the Vikes GM...I would offer Rodgers a performance based contract.
JJ McCarthy has a four year contract. Rodgers has maybe one more season left in him. I don't think AR would really stunt his growth. They spent a top pick on a QB so they have to give him a shot to see if he is a bust while he is still on a relatively cheap contract. I get your point. If JJ isn't 100% healthy to start the season it makes more sense because of that sense of urgency. But kicking the tires on your top 10 pick QB in year 3 of 4, after he has only received 2nd team reps, isn't a great way to build for the future. JJ can ball. Dude is legit.JJ McCarthy has a four year contract. Rodgers has maybe one more season left in him. I don't think AR would really stunt his growth.
The Vikings are coming off a big regular season. They owe it to their team not to waste an opportunity like this. Aaron Jones is 30. Some of their other good players are getting close to 30. I can't really expect a QB who has never thrown a dagum pass in the NFL to lead them to a Super Bowl win this year.
One thing is for sure...the Vikings need to sign some experience at QB. JJ McCarthy is the only QB on their roster at the moment.
JJ got year learning and watching Sam Darnold who did a decent job of it. Rodgers would be a disaster signing, with his out look, his attitude, his diva act and how much it would cost. They do need a back up though. Only way to get experience is to play and JJ is going play this year.JJ McCarthy has a four year contract. Rodgers has maybe one more season left in him. Rodgers is probably looking at a 2 to 3 year deal. No reason for the Vikings to give him that or even a 1yr deal. Drafted JJ high so play him. Kid has weapons so Vikings will find out in 2 to 3 years if they made the right decision.

The Vikings are the same team that gave up on Teddy Bridgewater after he suffered his knee injury.
That's one thing I will concede. When you draft a QB with a top 10 pick...he's not going to want to wait 2-3 years to start.Drafted JJ high so play him.
I need to stop trusting the ESPN depth charts.Brett Rypien doesn't do anything for you?
Agreed completely. It would make no sense whatsoever for the Vikings to sign RodgersI would be absolutely baffled if the Vikings signed Rodgers. It's not like their window is closing, wth? LOL, a lot of that roster and coaching staff is fresh, get JJ in there. I agree they do need a decent backup (a vet) to help continue mentor him, but that's not Aaron Rodgers lol. Also, the Vikings only have $17M of cap space. You need prob. around $10M for injury + rookies (I guess you get that back when you cut to your roster limit but still)... Even if the Vikings were batshit, Rodgers isn't signing a 1 year $15M contract, lol. Even if that's what he's worth, his ego wont allow that to happen.
Steelers is about the only team that makes sense..
