JaMarcus Russell is an absolute fat piece of garbage but with his arm talent I don't see why he couldn't be a back up in this league. He had no business being the 1st overall pick and probably should have been a 3rd rounder.
Strange that I kind of catch myself cheering for this guy to make a successful comeback. Especially hearing that he is training with Jeff Garcia:
JaMarcus Russell - QB - Free Agent
Free agent JaMarcus Russell has canceled his April 10 Pro Day-style workout.
He now wants to work out for teams individually. Russell, 27, is training with former longtime NFL quarterback Jeff Garcia in order to refine his passing skills and get into the 260-pound range. He weighed 310 when the comeback began, but there were reports last week that Russell still weighs near 290.

Private workouts for JaMarcus

According to USAToday.com's Jim Corbettt, JaMarcus Russell "has been working six days a week since Feb. 7 with [Jeff] Garcia, TEST Academy CEO Brian Martin and former San Diego Chargers strength and conditioning coach Jeff Hurd to reach his current 15% body fat."
It was believed that Russell had a pro-day-style workout, scheduled for Wednesday, which was cancelled, but Martin said that was never the case. Instead, teams are "kind of waiting to see where his weight is, and when he gets close to weight they want to bring him in and evaluate him."
Garcia would like to see Russell end up with a team like the Chicago Bears or Arizona Cardinals, where Russell could sit as a backup and re-acclimate himself to the NFL. The New York Jets also appear to have some level of interest in the former Oakland Raiders QB.
Per DraftInsider.net, during the past couple of months, Russell has dropped his weight from 311 pounds to about 280 pounds. Apparently his goal is to get down to around 270 pounds before holding private workouts for teams. Considering the weak class of quarterbacks via free agency and the draft, it's not crazy to think that some team will give the former No. 1 overall pick a shot as a backup QB if he impresses in those workouts. Russell will turn 28 in August.
Forgot to say that there's a good video that goes with this.
