Just watched the clip the Rangers have on their website. Leiter is really well-spoken. Having a long-time MLB pitcher for a dad really served him well. I also think having Chris Young as the GM played an important role in this process, being a former pitcher himself.

The rebuild took a really big step today, and I think we're in good hands.

Just a little more to go now and not much time to do it.

Scherzer is single-handedly affecting the SP market. It could very well mean a better return for Gibson if teams have to scramble to beat the deadline, but it doesn't make things less stressful for the fans

I agree... I looked at their top 30 and I didn't see much I liked to trade for Gallo with

I really don't understand why more teams don't make trades earlier than right before the deadline. It seems like more trades used to be made earlier. I believe we acquired Cliff Lee around the 9th of July. Back in the day, we traded Honeycutt just before the AS game. A trade made just after the break gives teams 25% more time to utilize their new acquisition than one made right at the deadline.

I see where that pitcher who the A's gave up for Marte kind of fell out of favor with Oakland. He was already struggling this year when he broke his pinkie finger the day he was supposed to start because he slammed his hand on a table while playing a video game.

Honestly, once Glasnow went down I was surprised the Rays didn't immediately trade for Gibson. Or at least for someone.

You're right! It's called greed. If they wait long enough they think they can get more and sometimes they do but sometimes it doesn't work out.

I think another reason people were surprised is because it was a 1-for-1 deal, Marte is a 3 month rental and this is a high ceiling SP prospect under control until 2027

The Marlins are paying all of Marte's salary, which is very unusual for them.

If the Rangers and Gallo have come to an agreement, why would they not make the announcement? (extension)

I am so glad he said that about holding out for Boston. That sounded like nonsense from the beginning.

I don't think they have.
I don't think so either. That is why I ask the question. Would make sense to go ahead if they agreed and they haven't.
