Why would you want either of them? To do what? Take up developmental innings at Round Rock?

DET kicked the tires on Valverde he didn't even last as long as Derek Lowe.

Could care even less about Marmol ... high numbers and beyond that he wasn't performing in the weaker NL ... so like the last CHC pitcher can't pitch in the AL either.

Trash.

The NL is actually is strong this year. Also the NL central is the strongest division in baseball. While the AL West is one of the weakest divisions..

The AL West is top heavy.

I have a feeling this team will add garza or gallardo (who is under control)

Garza has been injury prone

And Gallardo has always been an inefficient pitcher, and its catching up with him this year, lots of Ks sure, but also lots of walks

Why would you think we would want to add either of these guys?

Once again, Garza would probably be better but will the cost in prospects be worth the rental? Probably not

Marmol has almost always been terrible, I don't think it matters what division he's in or who he's pitching against

He has never walked fewer than 4 men per 9 innings, 4.2 is his low, he's a walk machine and a blown save waiting to happen (you don't have to be a closer to blow a save)

I could see them being interested in garza. No thanks to Gallardo.

Only reason I could see Garza is b/c after this year we could be done with him, but whats the price in prospects, the Cubs will be looking to recoup some of the value they foolishly traded to Tampa for Garza in the first place

I say no thanks

don't see him being much of an improvement over what we already got. if we're going to make a trade for pitching it needs to be a major step up

I highly doubt either would be available and I don't want sale on our payroll when his elbow explodes.

Btw, what was that this offseason about holland wishing he were Gallardo?

He still is very good, why would his elbows explode?

Also he has to do it for a few years before hes better than gallardo. Gallardo has done it for years, first year where he is having a down year but has been pitching better lately

Gallardo has always been a slightly above average pitcher. He's never been an ace or a TORP. Not even close.

Yes I have. But that doesn't mean his elbow will explode

Several scouts and analysts have commented that he's a season ending surgery waiting to happen.

Well you don't need to be a scout to see that Sale's delivery is physiologically unnatural and very demanding on his elbow. I see the same thing in Weavers delivery. Price would be nice, but I just don't see JD who is adamant about building within and keeping his farm full, trading for Price. Garza is more realistic and he may be a little cheaper than we think with him coming off a recent injury and him being a rental. He would fit perfectly in our #2 or #3 spot. He also has proven to be effective against AL lineups.
