Apparently the rangers have a very strong suspicion they can resign garza after this season. One reason why they dont really see him as a rental

I actually have thought that it could be a possibility to resign him. He really wanted to resign with the Cubs which tells me he was not someone just looking to get out of town and go find the highest bidder. To me that was a good sign.

He texted me because earlier I asked him to keep me updated. I asked him about all the prospects we were giving up and why we were giving up that much and he said "We've been after him on many separate occasions now and our front office has gotten to know him pretty well. We wouldn't give up a lot if we didn't feel strongly that this is more than a 2 month player." Then he sent me another text that said "By the way, within the past hour we just gave them our medical information for theirs. This means that its done barring any last second medicinal flaws. Should be interesting now!"

Still don't know who we're giving up though. He doesnt either, strangely enough.

Anyway they talk Extension now?

I dont know whether he meant a deal now or this offseason. I CANT IMAGINE garza would sign a deal now at all. Because I mean after the type of season hes had so far why would you not wanna test free agency?

Unless that was negotiated as part of the trade.

I guess that could be part of the trade. I just cant see it happening. But thats just my opinion. I texted him back asking the same thing, whether he thinks we'll sign him this year. But haven't gotten a response yet. Would be pretty nice though. Get him for cheaper now then we would when other teams get involved

But it was my understanding that he wanted a deal with the Cubs now. There can be two ways of looking at it. He is healthy and pitching great and lets take a good deal now at my peak because you never know what could happen that could completely reverse that or I take my chances and hope all goes well until the end of the season and hit the market.

because this could be his last BIG pay day! he is set to make a lot of money this offseason based off of how he's pitched in this contract year. he would be foolish not test the market if he keeps up this pace.

Ya but unless you're 100% sure that Texas is where you wanna spend the prime of your career then at least test FA right? Then you can see what other teams have to offer instead of being locked down to just one option.

That would be like saying "Why didn't josh hamilton resign with us after his 4 home run game?" Well probably because he didnt know if Texas is where he really wanted to stay lol

So then are you saying that Chicago was where he felt 100% where he was willing to stay since he wanted to resign?

Well if he wanted to resign with them then ya. I mean why else would you wanna sign with the cubs? Nothing that they have to offer is enticing, so he was attached to them and thought he wanted to spend his career there.

Right, part of the first sentence from that article:

Negotiations between the Cubs and Rangers are in the "final stage" with the teams exchanging medical reports

And it is involving 6 players as far as sharing the medical reports go.

Could easily see Soriano coming back.

So does that mean that it is indeed a 6 player deal?

I'm gonna go for a couple hours. Hopefully when I get back we'll know all the players we dropped for this. Cheers
