You are assuming the Phillies have to trade him, then?

If we trade Lee we either take on all salary, or if they eat any of it then I'm sure the price starts at something like Olt + Perez + a few other top prospects not named Profar.

And if I'm JD Perez is off limits. Period.

Perez is probably more untouchable to me than profar. But if we could get garza (like i said, id much rather have cliff lee) without giving away our best prospects, and I include Olt in that, then I would pull the trigger now. It would be incredible if we had Garza AND we called up manny after the all star break

Assuming manny can still produce. I'm still not getting my hopes up.

He has just looked so good. And hitting was never an issue. He's always been such a pure natural hitter. We only need him to fill the void berkman hasnt

I would be thrilled if he does. Regardless, were still looking at a SSS, but Texas may be forced to take that chance in another week or two. As you said, the guy is a pure hitter. So far, it looks like he still has it.

Oh, well if you take in this entire season he was tearing it up overseas too. I think he's the real deal, and if we being him up what's the worst that can happen? He hits as bad as Lance? At least its a power right handed bat that is more than likely a lot better than berkman

It would move AJ down, but still doesn't solve our Murphy problem. We still need an OF.

I'd love to give Beltre a chance to be the every day guy. Problem is, I know as long as Murphy is on the roster Wash won't.

Cuddyer? Think Colorado might make him available?

We all said the same thing about hitting Martin second in the line up instead of Murphy and for the month of July Martin is hitting below .220. Therein lies the problem. You could add Mickey Mantle to the line up and Sandy Koufax to the rotation and they would still be pitching and hitting around some very inconsistent players.

I'm not so sure about that. Murphy used to be the 4th outfielder and Wash would keep him in the lineup when he got on a hot streak. Beltre is in some games, and I think if he got hot, Wash would keep him in. What has Beltre had, 20 at-bats maybe? Good average. No home runs. Not enough to pull the plug on Murphy yet. We just don't have a lot of options out there right now. We don't have the potent line-up we used to have.

When is Baker going to be back? I'd rather put him out there everyday.

As far as trades, I don't know what we should do. This isn't 2010 or 2011, where a big pitcher or a couple of relievers would be enough to put us in the World Series. We have holes in pitching and hitting now. If we can't address both, why give away young talent (or an established player)?

I would have to disagree with you on that of course depending on getting some pitchers back. We know Yu will be and Ogando should be. If Colby Lewis is back and in form then one more pitcher could make a big difference. Our bullpen is solid. When you look at the Giants who won 2 of the last 3 WS their offense may have been not as strong as what we have now.
