Kind of a toss-up series in a lot of ways. Marlins have their best starter Luzardo facing off against our newbie, Montgomery in Game 1, so that game could go a lot of different ways. Game 2 has a yet-to-be-named starter for the Marlins squaring off against Gray, who is a definite question mark these days. Toss-up there as well. Then you’ve got Alcantara, who has been wildly inconsistent this year and nowhere near as dominant as last year vs. Heaney, who is also wildly inconsistent.

I’m hoping for 2 out of 3 wins.

The Braves have a division lead of 11.5 games. The other 5 division leaders have a 9 game lead combined.

one of my most surreal baseball experiences ever involves the Marlins and the Rangers.

In 2003 Pudge was a FA and signed with the Marlins. Back then, the Rangers still sold physical tickets in-person, so I got up early as usual and went to stand in line on a chilly February morning with my fellow Rangers faithful to get Opening Day tickets. I was also going to get tickets to Pudge's first game back as a Marlin, which was going to be that summer.

As we waited for the windows to open, there was a huge boom that scared the shit out of everyone. We all assumed that some piece of heavy equipment inside the stadium fell (no cellphones then to look anything up). It wasn't until I got home later that I realized what we heard was the Columbia explosion as it passed over Texas.

I was thinking much the same way when I was looking at the matchups last night.

Went to last game of the year where he shoved against the Halos to put us in the playoffs

A win or go home game. He was a pro

Former Rangers great Cole Hamels has called it a career
I don't know why but I find this rather amusing. I don't show where he pitched since 2020 and that was just 3 innings.

Yeah the love of the game kept him still battling even when there wa no tread on The tires left

Controversy re the haul the Rangers gave up for him and we did not get the WS. Injuries were a factor and despite the NL allegedly were much worse due to DH, Cole did his part

All these trades may not get us over the top but the ride and experience especially for the youngsters will be valuable

Plus there is no sure thing in baseball. Sometimes you do catch lightning in a bottle
