bauer out ... sex allegations.

Amazing. We dodged that bullet (well not really cuz Jerry was never gonna pay him...but theoretically).

Man, I would like this, a lot. Stick him at second base. If we picked Story up and get Robert/Eloy back? We are set for a run.

1/2 season rental so it makes sense. I'm guessing we wouldn't have to give up the farm since his contract is up year-end. I guess we'll see but seems like the right move. Maybe we can con them into Reynaldo Lopez if we throw in a year's worth of shrink fees.

They're in the winning phase of the cycle now. In this phase you've brought up your prospects and signed FAs and are competing for rings. When the window closes, you start selling off your players for psorpects, restock the farm, and then the big club loses for a few years and the farm looks good again. Takes about 3-5 years for each of the two phases.

It's been known for some time now that pretty much all of the Sox prospects talent was top heavy. Once these key players were to be promoted, we'd have a real gap of talent in our 2nd and 3rd levels, and it's showing up as such.

There's a double reason for us Sox fans to be happy seeing the Tribe go thru this losing streak, which has now reached 9 games. Of course the most important reason is we continue to increase our lead against them, currently expanded to 8 games. But almost as importantly, the more they lose, the more likely they're going to be sellers at the trade deadline, which will make them even weaker in the short term. Not only are they 8 games back of the Good Guys, but they're falling further behind for one of the two wild card spots. They're 5.5 games back of the second spot, but more troublesome for them is the fact there are also six teams in front of them chasing those two spots.

Some more random thoughts:

*With Eaton's DFA, what comes to a close is a bad offseason signing by Hahn & co. I don't recall a single Sox fan in here who was pro-signing of him. Granted, for a few weeks early on, it looked like maybe Hahn knew what he was doing, as Eaton was playing pretty well. But the two main reasons most of us cited against inking him in the first place was his decline in overall play, as well as trouble staying healthy. And sadly, both of these negative attributes came to fruition. The big positive of all this is it gives a chance for others to show they belong on the roster. Probably the three biggest beneficiaries from Adam's departure are Billy Hamilton, Brian Goodwin, and Gavin Sheets with respect to increased playing time. Altho Sheets is primarily an infielder, he'll play some occasional OF as well.

*It's taken half a season, but it does look like Leury Garcia is beginning to play like his old consistent self. His BA has been steadily rising and he's just two ribbies away from being 2nd on the team in this stat.

*Lucas Giolito is the designated ace of the rotation, but in reality he's been arguably the least consistent starter of the five. At this point he should be listed no higher than 3rd. Rodon and Lynn have performed way better to date.

*I swear if we're not the most injured ballclub in MLB, I'd sure like to know which team is.

Indians and Twins are both meh...We got this. We'd be up by 10+ games right now if not for injuries. Before the all-star game. That's insane.

i actually think we'd be up by at least 13.

Yeah...I didn't want to go up in the mid teens because a 5 game swing or higher is a pretty big jump statistically. But it would be possible with full health based on how the Twins and Indians are playing. We'll never know...but what I do know is that if we somehow lost this division it would be a complete and utter chokejob at this point. It's all ours for the taking. And I do apologize in advance for feeling this way if I end up jinxing us...but it is what it is. We goin' Sizzler.

Caught up on some brilliant - thoughts. This is where I would usually throw out to you some kind of insult, but the picture of the past week was well painted and I am without complaints.

I have a feeling that the White Sox by bringing up Burger and Sheets - were showing potential trade partners they are not without resources. @idseer while driving cross country to see the grandkids I heard and a great interview on podcast with Larry Sheets and Gavin Sheets. Let me know if you can't find the link I've sent in the past.

Now if this was a Bill Veek production - he would have Eloy, Robert and Grandal emerge ready to play from the cornfield against the Yankees.

You know when your manager is doing a good job? It's when no one is talking about him. TLR is starting to get what makes Hendriks tick - He's giving Sheets good opportunities with Righties and Burger good opportunity with Lefties. He's even let out the least on Burger and Sheets letting them hit against their minor league splits. Anyway - with all TLR's experience as a manager - he surely hasn't managed a team with this many injuries - starting outfield - and starting 2nd baseman and catcher - all out at the same time.

Leury Garcia has really shown his worth over the last month or so.

Did Herm Schneider put a jinx on the place when he left, or have the White Sox contracted out the trainer duties to the lowest bidder?

I know you're joking, but have you by any chance seen what Lopez is doing in AAA? Holy hell in a hand basket. He's worse than he's ever been. It's actually impressive how putrid he is. His career is totally over.

He's 0-6 across 9 starts with an 8.73 ERA a 2.121 WHIP... He walks 5.5 batters per 9 innings and gives up 13.5 hits per 9 innings.

I can't believe I fell for this guy when he came up and initially looked decent. He is a special kind of bad.

How fast can the Sox turn Gavin Sheets into a RF? He's got the arm - he has the athleticism and he is as well versed in baseball as anyone his age - having grown up with his dad and Cal Ripken Jr. as his family friend and coaches. Lone term problem solved.

Jake Burger - is ready to be a big leaguer, but I don't see where he is going to displace Moncada at 3rd - or make a good enough outfielder. I would think he is a trade chip - unfortunately because he will succeed in the big league. If they trade Burger they will also need a minor league A ballplayer with upside back to the Sox.

I think we will be looking upon Zach Collins' make or break moment as a White Sox while Grandal heals up. It is interesting in his minor league career - he got better as a catcher in stretches and then concentrated on improving his batting - then back to catching. He has crawled up to a status of an average defensive catcher - I think. It looks like know the Collins will get the consistent at bats that will tell us all about if he can put together consistent at bats in the League.

I like Seby Zevala as a catcher.

Andrew Vaughn reminds me of science class when it comes to hitting - I like how he has adjusted to the pitching adjustments made against him. I think he is headed toward mega production.

Lance Lynn should be resigned now.

Not a god damned thing that can be argued here. Excellent post.

Actually, I do want to add one thing and that's give some props to.............ready for this..........TLR. Let's face it, we've all bagged on him from virtually the moment it was announced that he was named skipper of the team. I know because I've been amongst the crowd giving him shit. But as we head into the AS break, the bottom line is the man has been running the team fairly well. No doubt he's had some mental gaffes during this short reign, but all in all, I think he's done a decent job to date. He seems to have the respect and command of the ballclub, and that always says a lot when it comes to managing a baseball team. Maybe it's just the fact that there isn't much discussion about him these days is a sign that he's fully into the mix. Not sold on him managing even beyond this season whatsoever, but for now, I think he's doing a pretty good job at the helm.

Re-signing Lynn would be the best Sox FA news in a long time.

Like I've always said - neither @idseer or TLR is too old. Just don't let them get into a conversation for gods sakes.
