Sincere apologies for mentioning the old Packer. Having the distinction of adopting the White Sox from a remote location left me inexcusably thoughtless in that regard.

So hopefully we can regain some of those games we were ahead of Cleveland - at one point we were 5.5 up, now down to 2.5 up. Our upcoming schedule, while never a gimme in this campaign, is nonetheless an opportunity to separate our two teams a bit more. The next 18 games are all against sub .500 ballclubs and the majority of these are against sub .400 teams. In this same timespan, the Tribe has 20 games, 9 of which are against such winning teams as the Cubs, Astros, and Rays (it makes me puke to say this, but go Cubbies!!!). If we fail to increase our division lead during this period, obviously something has continued to go wrong.

As a whatever side note, I'm back on the road tomorrow for a more extensive vaycay, returning on July 3rd. Hopefully I'll make some free time to visit this mofo board now and then and make life miserable for you guys. In the meantime, GO SOX!!!!

I heard from "Future Sox" that the White Sox are one of the few teams who did not cut back their scouting staff during the pandemic. So now - with the draft at 20 rounds many MLB teams will be drafting the final 10 rounds based on publicly available stats and no 1st hand scouting. I hope it pays off for a player or two - that's all it takes to get an edge in ML baseball.

but it meant yermin being sent down. you think it's coincidence he stopped hitting just when our asshole manage threw him under the bus? i know he's no .300 hitter (in fact i think i guessed he'd end up around .250 when he was hitting over .400) but i think he really got shafted!

I think that definitely is part of it. He struggles with breaking balls. Down the road, if he had some more protection behind him, he might get more fastballs

After we get healthy *knocks on wood* and trade for a 2B? I think we beat that pace and win 100+. This lineup with Eloy/Robert and Frazier, Marte or Escobar? Along with our current staff? Man, oh man. This team is going to be really, really good.

I don't think it has much of anything to do with it, to be honest. The league changed the way they pitched to him around that exact same time. It's well documented that they did. He couldn't adjust back.

Looks like while I was away the Sox were on quite the roller coaster ride. We were fortunate that during some of this stink period the Indians failed to gain any long term ground. Man, if we only played to our level when we were facing some of those the shit teams, the Central would be all but ours by now. As it stands, we still are looking good overall and with the trade deadline approaching, the question is will the Tribe, our only real competitors for the title, be buyers or sellers.

Man, I would like this, a lot. Stick him at second base. If we picked Story up and get Robert/Eloy back? We are set for a run.

We're six days away from the MLB draft. Here are the top 50 for consideration, at least according to CBS Sports:

Obviously, with the Good Guys slated for the 22nd pick, I naturally checked who's listed there. Andrew Painter, a flame throwing high schooler, would make for a solid selection, altho MLB's mock draft has him taken by Philly with their pick in the 13th spot. They have us taking a college RFer, Jud Fabian. Position-wise, while we can always use another good pitcher, I've been kinda hoping a good catcher slides to us, perhaps followed by the outfield. The MLB draft obviously doesn't carry the drama of its NFL or NBA counterparts, but I still enjoy following it and watching at least the 1st round that day.
