You asked what white is.

Advantages, disadvantages, and privilege are all opinions if you are basing things on race.

Again, there is no verifiable advantage to being white in society today.

Really?????

Blacks will take hundreds of years to catch up to white ...

money.cnn.com/2016/08/09/news/economy/blacks-white-wealth-gap/...

While I will agree with the prevailing thought that there are many reasons for this, they all come back to one thing.

(I'm still going to stick with my original questions though, maybe one of the other posters will take them head on)

There are far too many factors to wealth accumulation to put the emphasis on race. Again, start with the family, spending choices, and education. You should also look at life insurance options. Consider also how few white people have generational wealth.

We keep battling and for no reason. Whites will never see the world through the eyes a black man and blacks will never see the world through the eyes of a white man. We're predjudice by human nature towards each other but only through human decency can we be civil. Whites generally don't like rap or the whole hip hop culture as blacks generally don't like hard rock or country. It's a culture divide. Yet we exist. It was ask if Im proud to be white and if you're proud to be black... I think we all should be proud of who we are regardless of color if were honest, polite, respectful, caring human beings who actually care for the well being of strangers.

Im done going back and forth trying to sway an opinion or two,,, it's not possible and we're wasting a lot of our time. I encourage you guys to do the same. Im out of this topic.

@reptec101 @skinsdad62

I will simply say two things.

1. If the questions or view points arent brought up, none of us will ever question our preconceived notions.
2. I argue/debate with you guys because on some level I do value your opinions even when we disagree.

Its no fun debating with some one whos opinion you dont value.

Like Shark said, we respect each other’s opinions which makes it fun. It also makes us more likely to learn something.

We don’t respect most of the posters on the political forum and I learn nothing from them.

Sure, capitalism demands a poor / working class. That's the whole kettle of fish.

On the other hand, capitalism ALSO demands relative income equality, and an investment from the ultra rich in the working poor.

We don't have that any more.

Actually we IMPORT that know. I know of a few tech companies that are sponsoring work visa and setting up group housing for IT people from India. These guys are doing what the Mexicans and Chinese were doing 20 years ago. 5 people to a two bedroom apartment, sending 60-80% of what they make back home. The only difference is, its legal because they are on sponsored work visa. But in the end they are making half what us good old Americans would accept to do the same job.

True enough. The dumbest part of the whole equation is the insistence that the reason this is happening is because of unions ("pricey labor," "too many regulations," "lazy workers," etc). That's lazy, short sighted thinking, meticulously crafted by CEO's and the like to maximize profits and minimize labor costs.

Isn’t it funny how big companies always support the influx of foreign laborers? That is why the Democratic Party is supported by big business even though they pretend to hate each other, or the media portrays it that way. Big business loves cheap labor. The Democratic Party loves buying votes with “incentives.” Match made in heaven.

For as much as I would like to agree with you, I can't, because pure capitalism cannot co-exist in a democratic society without one ultimately doing severe damage or destroying the other.

BTW: Capitalism eliminates a middle class, AKA pre-great depression America.

Business is business.....I don't think that it favors one party over the other because it gets value from both. That's the game being played on the people in this country and why I encourage everyone to at least consider doing something that I've already done since 1972......Leave both of the party's and go independent, since there is no third party that exclusively serves the people, and, the masses are in no collective frame of mind to create one themselves.

Let me be a bit more clear on this. I agree that capitalism demands a poor/working class and if I'm reading your post correctly that working class has to be a poor one (no middle class). I also disagree that capitalism demands relative income equality in this sense....that income equality must be based on a working poor, again no middle class or any of the class groups between them. That investment, as was historically instituted in this country allowed for the provision of bare minimums regarding living conditions and the institution of debtors prisons.

We may not have that anymore, but I guarantee one thing, we who do not learn from history, are bound to repeat it.

Follow the money. Big business money greatly favors liberals.

You typed that with out hesitation. Knowing that our Not so Liberal president has embarked on a plan to fire up the largest construction project in our nations history and he just HAPPENED to make his money in construction.

So yes lets do follow the money. :suds:
