As you have most eloquently shown, right from wrong is more often than not a matter of ones perspective.

Choices are made from the options available to a particular individual.

Drug dealers...is that their only choice?

People who take drugs...is that their only choice?

Murderers, rapists, and thieves...is that their only choice?

A child skipping school...is that their only choice?

A child not doing their homework...is that their only choice?

People L.E.A.R.N right from wrong depending on what that is, relative to their life's circumstance and environment. Your "right" can easily be my "wrong" and vice versa. Who's to judge?

Influence and choice are NOT independent of one another.

The judicial system in the US?

The reason they cannot vote is they are a territory and have no electoral votes.

I get that. But then aside from some form of political or racial bias, why have they NOT made a territory that we have owned for going on 120 into a state yet??

Puerto Rico didn't vote to become a state until 2012... they must be racist.

They also have 45 percent poverty and a shit ton of debt already. Why would we want them to be a state? They have nothing to offer.

Now you may want to hear because they will vote democrat which is also true. Overwhelmingly, people that want government freebies vote democrat.

I would think most AMERICANS would want American citizens to have all the rights that citizenship affords. Personally i would want them to be a state because as citizens they SHOULD have the right to vote considering that they do pay federal income taxes. The do join, serve and die in our military as American Citizens. And an American citizen should not have to abandon his home and Family to get the same rights you and I get because we happen to be born and live in the CONUS.

They do have the same rights we have. They can move to a state with electoral votes and vote in the election.

I also just read they do not pay personal federal income taxes.

The judicial system in the US?

Supposed to be Socialistic in its application, but in fact it is, prejudicial, and racist in its application. It is the bedrock upon which racism lives.

So if i told you you needed to leave your home and family in order to vote, in essence relocate to some place where you are subject to a growing sense of unwelcome because of your ethnic background.... you would be ok with that??

Voting in Puerto Rico, in the POTUS election, is pointless because they carry no electoral votes. They do vote in other Us elections because they are citizens.

Once again another reason why they SHOULD be granted statehood.

But that didnt answer my question.. Would you move to say Lincoln Heights in N.E. DC in order to have your vote counted??

If it meant enough for me to vote...yes.

Again...they didn't want to be a state until 2012. By then, we had no reason to want them as a state.

They werent even given the option until 1967. And we both know how choices on Ballots go. Fo fuck sake electric companies here in Florida TRIED like hell to get a law passed thet stated that if you have Solar, you would still be required to pay to the electric company an estimated cost of the electricity you would use as a line maintenance fee. So you dont think there is a vested interest lobbying in PR as to why they should vote against statehood??

Side note, I dont remember another vote to become a state aside from Hawaii, and the only people allowed to VOTE on that one were American citizens who had moved to Hawaii, or Hawaiians who opted to be come American citizens.
