I don't know what Bryce Love was thinking coming back. RB is a position you jump to the NFL as soon as you can.
He's working on his degree with a goal to get into med school.
Not going to happen. He wants to stay and play with his little brother.
SOME (by no means all) of our problem this year was being a young team. Hopefully, this speaks well for the future.
I would still classify Herbert as 'likely' to return, but it's not a slam dunk. He wants to play with his brother, but also quite a few scouts are cautious now after he dinged his shoulder against the beavs and his teams lackluster season. His numbers alone will still make him a high draft pick, but some have dropped him from top QB.
Hard to pass up that high $$$ contract and risk falling hard with an injury. I hope if he does stay it doesn't come back to bite him in the ass. He deserves to get his payday.
I do want the kid to return. UW is 1-1 against him and I'd love to see them shove his ass out the door with another L at Montlake. UW took the north this year with him down there and at full health. Always a bit more hollow when the team you beat for the title doesn't have their stars.
The future looks brighter. Pittman staying was pretty huge . Guess who was seen on the Mater dei sidelines last night at Cerritos College at the CIF final game against De La Salle. I hear Bru Mccoy is liking the choice.

Most of us assume it’ll be Eason. They’ll open it up though. Knowing Petersen it’ll be a “game day decision.”Whos in the lead to be the starting QB at Washington this next season?
If you ask the media they will probably mostly say Eason because they presume with his arm strength/size and SEC starting history he's a lead, but that's not how Petersen works. I'd still give him the edge simply because of that size and arm. Former UW/NFL QB Hugh Millen describes him as having the strongest arm he's ever seen. But.. there's a reason a frosh moved past him at Georgia.Whos in the lead to be the starting QB at Washington this next season?

I hope he is at least getting those examples and has all the tools to make a decision he can live with. While I'd love to see him stay and take another crack at a team he is leading, I really also don't want to see a talent kid lose out on money. It's almost always a mistake for a guy who is considered a high draft pick, to stay in school.
Players, especially quarterbacks, should take a lesson from both Matt Leinart and Matt Barkley. Leinart stayed in school, had stats that were every bit as good as his junior year and played in the NC game, but fell from a likely #1 to #10 in the draft.
Matt Barkley had the team unravel on him when he stayed and fell from a projected #1 pick to the 4th round, even though he had the 2nd highest passer rating of his USC career that season.
Both guys lost a lot money by staying.
He can play two more, but almost everyone believes if he gets the nod he's a one and done looking to build an NFL profile and leaving. How many years left on scholarship for him?
He has two years of eligibility. But if he has a good year and leaves, Yankoff and Sirmon will be redshirt sophomores and one should be ready to take over after a year behind Eason. We’re pretty set at the position (on paper) for the foreseeable future. How many years left on scholarship for him?
And more in the wings yet. Couple of more coming in that also look insanely good. Even a few years from now when Huard takes over Montlake. One of the most encouraging things, imo, was that Pittman said he was coming back even before the firings and the hiring of Kingsbury. Tells me that, at the least, Helton didn't lose the team (unlike both Kiffin and Sark prior to their firings) and guys still want to play here.
From what I've heard, Bru is friends with JT and Amon-Ra, so I don't think there was much chance that USC would lose him. But him liking the hire can only help in keeping it that way.
It will be interesting to see how Helton fills out the rest of the staff. Heard anything?
